Gross. I have no problem with tofu and tempeh, but I don’t want it made into a tofu dog. Same goes for whatever these are made of. I don’t want a chickpea nugget or jackfruit BBQ. Maybe a bad example as those don’t sound too bad. I like ripe jackfruit though I dislike falafel. I’m I’m going to eat BBQ I want meat, but I’m more than open to a jackfruit slaw. If I’m going to eat some kind of meatball pita then it needs to be made of meat not falafel though I’m open to trying more falafel on the side as falafel. I like making mapo tofu, miso soup and clear broth soups with tofu, and fried tofu tossed in sweet and spicy sauce at home. I just don’t like non meat pretending to be meat just as much as I don’t like non dairy pretending to be dairy. Homemade cashew milk is delicious on its own but is not a good dairy substitute for coffee.

I was a vegetarian for about five years until today when I decided to go back to normal diet.

Fake meat has always repulsed me and I only ate it once, at a cookout when the host's sister was a vegetarian and knew I was too. She was really into fake meat and made me a burger. I ate it to be polite but it was pretty not great. Thinking about it made me nearly throw up, which I've only done once in the past 20 years when I got too drunk at Christmas.

Food should be what it is, and not try so hard to masquerade as something else. Black bean burgers and such do this fine. They are clearly veggies, not actual burgers, but can be tasty in their own way. But beyond meat is horrible and all humans should find it offensive.

Imitation meats, cheeses, etc always have and always will fall short because their limiting factor is quite literally in the name; imitation.
Comparing it to a whopper/[insert fast food item] is disingenuous because those products already suck.
I wouldn't eat a whopper before and I won't eat one now just because you made it all filler instead of mostly filler.

I recall one study about White Oaks farm in GA or something like that

Their grazing practices sequester a lot of carbon in the soil, which balances out 100% of their emissions from cattle production, and 85% of their total emission (they have more stuff going on than just cows).

Regenerative grazing can be pretty amazing, but mainstream beef production is pretty much the exact opposite

i totally agree with this. love eating vegetarian mostly, but i hate when people just 'replace' meat. that said, i unironically like boca burgers. not cus they taste like meat, but i do enjoy them. as for beyond meat, it doesn't taste that good and it's just not a replacement for beef. i haven't tried the sausage.

This is why vegans are hated.
Free-range cows are happy to provide milk, and chickens literally menstruate eggs. That's as cruelty-free as it gets.

>Your honest opinion on fake meat?

Waste of money. Sick of vegans saying they're healthier. Worked with vegans, sold food to vegans, dated a vegan. They only eat filler junk food. S0ibean and canola oil in everything. They won't eat bacon but will eat doritos and oreos by the pound. Won't drink milk in their tea but will drink soda, oat """"""""""milk""""""""".
The worst is when they get to their stage of veganism where they ask to SMELL your food. If you're eating a burger or whatever, they just stare at it, they ask to smell it. Its fucked.

Fake meat is the future, because we're nuking the ocean, they'll ban cows etc to "prevent diseases" and "save the environment" and then we won't get a choice. Enjoy meat while you can, your children's children will ask how it tasted.

It's just a fad that will hopefully pass. The hip new thing now is pretending to care about the enviroment, animal welfare, and agriculture mostly because a lot of the tech guys who missed the ship during the dot com bubble of the 90s and early 00s realized there is a profit in agriculture and farming. Expect industries like food and wine to be filled with lots of SJW shit in the next five years

>essential amino acids that can only be found in meat and animal products
essential amino acids means you cannot synthesize them and that they must be eaten

>> No.15910603

I think it’s strange that vegans would champion a product meant to give a “realistic simulation” of what they consider to be the morally reprehensible act of eating meat.
Doesn’t that make it the culinary equivalent of a loli sexdoll?
