>>15899432
Why would you unbeef the beef? If you don't like beef then don't eat beef, is this concept too difficult to understand? No spice ungrounds it, because it's not ground beef. I hope this also isn't too difficult to understand. Pic related is what a steak tartare should look like; spreadable texture almost like pate, rich dark colour from all the spices, spread on buttered toasted toast.

>> No.15899583

>>15899460
You say the texture is nothing like raw beef, but it is indeed just a bunch of chopped raw beef and spices, it's not ceviche or anything so the texture doesn't change that much from just plain raw beef from what I've had. Oh and when I say "minced" I mean finely hand chopped as opposed to ground btw, I know in euroland mince can refer to ground beef so that may have caused some confusion.

In america I've only ever seen it in fancy restaurants. If you were to get it from a butchers youd just have to buy a steak and chop it yourself.

>> No.15899735

>>15899583
Here you can buy it at butchers everywhere, and that's also the only way to get it. I've never seen it offered in a restaurant before. It's a common breakfast meal here, like a weekly or a monthly thing.
I personally don't like it minced, I like it fine almost like patte (like on my pic), which is 99% of it available here. I have never seen it ground.
It's not considered fancy at all, it's really a common breakfast, sort of like I'd imagine peanut butter jelly in US.

>> No.15899744

>>15899583
Oh and I meant texture compared to rare steak. It's not chewy at all. So the texture is not like raw meat, it's really more like patte, but not quite.

Had tartar, it was fine. She had grilled salmon(cheater).
Married, 1st anniversary, we had moved from New York to Washington(I was in NY city for work for years, Everett was home), went into Seattle and did the same. Tartar, and grilled tilapia, they didn't have salmon at the moment (WTF Seattle?).
We did it every anniversary. Years later, take a second honeymoon, ended up in Paris on the anniversary day. I had tartar, she had salmon. A few hours later I was violently ill and spent 2 days in the hotel room. We had ate just about the same stuff everywhere else, until our anniversary meal.

Depends.
Ground meat has more surface area for bacteria to grow on before it is put in the grind. Thats why cooking burger thoroughly is more important than cooking a steak where steak has a more limited surface that becomes safe from searing the outside.

If preparation is properly sanitized and/or appropriate mixings are used like acids you can eat raw meat in enjoyable dishes.

Cooking food is a fucking meme. It was required when we were dumbass ape people and needed to burn the disease off of everything, but we've moved past that. is this what american education does to people? lol
American English does have noticable accents, while German has dialects that are often incomprehensible even to other germans and Europe as a whole has languages that aren't even related to eachother a lot of the time, in some cases as far apart as English is from Chinese

so you're saying Germans don't have the discipline to maintain their own language. being so weak-minded that the minute they aren't all together they fail at the sole purpose of languge.

Yeah French restaurant have this nasty habit of grounding up the beef and leaving it there for the day... depending on the original quality of the beef, temperature and overall kitchen cleanliness, let's just say your experience may vary. I just usually order a steak aller-retour, almost as raw and much safer to eat.

ask your local butcher if they ground the meat themselves; if they do, its probably fine. buying meat from a chain-grocer and doing so yourself is also generally OK.

ground meat that has been cut prior to being shipped-off could potentially send you to the ER, given it has several times more surface area & is pretty evenly-marinated in its own expunged juices as it rests, which makes it a major bacteria-magnet

Japan eats more raw eggs than anywhere in the world (except chinks as of only recently) and they have the least amount of salmonella cases. Turns out raw cookie dough is dangerous because of the raw flour more than the raw egg.

Its about pasteurization of eggs for salmonella not about eggs just being bad. The bad stuff is on the outside not the inside. What countries require it vary, but in the countries that do not require it you can buy pasteurized eggs still.

I think most of the problem with this meal would come from the raw beef as theres many more times that that could get contaminated than the egg.
