Somewhat of a tangent, since it wasn't a "prize" as much as a promotion, but in Australia in 2006 Pizza Hut had a deal where you got the standard 2 pizza, garlic bread, large drink deal for $35, with the kicker being that you could pick out a copy of Need For Speed, Sims 2 or Battlefield 2 (obviously, this was a promo with EA).
Battlefield 2 had been out about a year at that point, so the game had settled nicely into a relatively tightnit community that knew what they were doing.
When this promotion came out, the servers were fucking FLOODED with hundreds of complete noobs, crashing jets, not having any idea how to fly helos, getting tanks abandoned and stolen and all sorts of chicanery.
It was such a massive, long lasting clusterfuck that the Battlefield community and the old salts who were around then still talk about it.
