What's the difference between red and green Tabasco? Which is better? Do Cajuns/Louisianans use it much?

I haven't had green hot sauce in years but iirc it has a fresher chile taste.

green tastes like Salsa Verde.

Red tabasco is made from tabasco peppers while green is made from jalapenos. Green is milder and has less of a vinegary taste. I like green better as a general condiment but red is more versatile.

What do Mexicans use salsa verde for? On that note, what do Americans use the 2 tabascos for?

What dishes do you use the different sauces in/on? Which one should I put on my deenz?

Green is made from Jalapenos, not from Tabasco chilis. And only the original one is barrel aged, afaik.

>> No.15773523

greens very refreshing, tastes like jalapeno and lime, pretty fruity. red just tastes like normal red peppers n vinegar. id suggest getting a different brand of sauce tabasco isnt very good.

Is Tabasco the shittiest sauce known to man? It's literal failed hot sauce for weak people.

Green tabasco isn't spicy at all

is correct. Crystal is definitely the most popular, followed by Louisiana brand, then usually some random cajun hot sauce you've never heard of. I like putting some tabasco in my gumbo, but others are definitely better.
For seasoning Tony's More Spice and Slap Ya Mama Hot are pretty popular.

tabasco is too spicy for me. the green one is spicier. I like these vinegar hot sauces for their tang as well as the heat so I pour it all over. frank's is perfect because it's the same as tabasco but not as spicy.

Correct info in this post.

Crystal is fantastic for making buffalo sauce. 1 cup of butter to 1.3 cups of hot sauce is the ratio I usually use. Sometimes I'll use less butter if I don't want it as rich.

Mexican here, we use it for pretty much everything. My grandparents usually have a couple bowls of salsa at the dinner table to spoon onto their food.

Theres also like some private reserve barrel aged Tabasco that's supposedly high end, but I havent tried it

Tastelet. Green is jalapeno, and much more flavorful. If you want raw heat skip Tobasco red because by the time you get it hot enough you just taste vinegar.
