I got fucked and accidentally got a rooster with the bunch of chicks I got months ago, fucker does nothing but puff out his neck and be a general nuisance but will stand idly by when a single lone possum starts chomping on the neck of one of the smaller hens despite being easily four times its size. I own chickens, the eggs have a very nice vibrant color and are very useful in cooking. On their own they taste a bit metallic though.
I do not plan on eating them, as the meat gets tough when they get older, which is why you only ever see people eating "chicken" meat rather than "hen" meat. Even my 7 year-old one manages to make some eggs so I'm fine with them dying of natural causes anyway since I take good enough care of them for them to keep on laying their whole lives.
