I never realized how fucking hot the US was until I traveled to Britain. There 70 degrees F is considered hot, meanwhile in Ohio I have to deal with 80-90 with 100% humidity in the summer. Also the biggest issue with the US is the whiplash you get from rapidly changing weather, you can never adjust since it can go from brutally cold to warm in like a day.

Overall, they produce heat. If you put a fridge in a room and let its door open, temperature in the room will increase.
That's because all they do is to move heat from its inside to the radiator on its back. This is not a 100% efficient process, so the net gain is extra heat.
AC works in a similar way, that's why there's always a unit outside to get rid of the heat and let it actually cool down the inside of your habitat.

That's the real killer. The body is well suited to get rid of too much heat with sweating (that's kinda our thing as humans and why we're so great at outlasting prey animals), but that stops working when it's already 100% humid, as the air is already saturated with humidity and simply can't take in any more.

Heat waves in Europe tend to be on the dry side and it's generally like one or two months when AC would be even somewhat useful temperature wise, so people generally don't go for it.

I live pretty much at the highest standard of living on the planet. Worst thing I've ever experienced regarding this was flying to Kenya, where the temperature was about the same as where my plane started, but humidity was 100%. Outside, my body felt like dying for a good week or two.

Depends if you actually mean a mini fridge or if you're being sarcastic. I live in the UK and my fridge looks almost exactly like this, as do most fridges in homes I've been two. Three or four shelves, a drinks rack, a vegetable draw and a freezer with another 3 or 4 shelves. It's about 7' tall and 2' wide. Some homes have the fridge and freezer separate, so each part comes up to waist height. The larger bottom shelf would easily fit 3-4 large joints of meat, the door fits 2 gallons of milk and you could fill the rest with enough eggs, condiments and vegetables to last a week or more. Even with a family, I struggle to see how you would need more room than this for fresh, perishable items unless you regularly throw away tonnes of expired food.

Europeans have worse purchase power than Americans, yes. We live in smaller apartments, drive older cars, consider French door frisges and ACs a luxury and don't get separate bedrooms for kids until they are 12 or so. At least here in Finland. 24% sales tax does that.
