I really wish I grew up near one of these. Any of you guys in New York go to them? Looks like they make really tasty stuff on the grill and it's also pretty cheap.

Some are good and some are bad. But they are everywhere so the chances are there’s gonna be at least one good one nearby
Honestly they make good sandwiches but in nyc the bar for food is so high that a sandwich from a good bodega is just considered average tier food, but someone from say the suburbs of the Midwest would probably think it’s the best fucking sandwich they’ve ever had

Wrong on so many levels
They don’t have a grill at a gas station for cooking meat, they don’t make salads at a gas station with your choice of toppings, you can’t pick what you want on your sandwich at a gas station, they don’t have a fryer at a gas station.
Also, bodegas have more snack options, gas stations typically just have your standard snack foods (Doritos, chips ahoy, Oreos, etc.) whereas bodegas actually have all those snacks plus the kinds of less mainstream snack food and drink brands that you commonly see at full sized grocery stores
Bodegas have almost double the selection of any 7/11 or equivalent

And your examples of paper pushers at insurance companies is inaccurate, even a paper pusher like the one you described makes way more in nyc then they would in say a non urban area like suburban New Jersey. They do suck. Dominos, Papa Johns, and Pizza Hut serve better pizza than the majority of the places in the NYC area too. Fucking garbage pizza. Most of it tastes like some shit you'd get out of a rundown bowling alley.

90% of bodegas don't have that shit either... They're like a row or two of snacks and canned good and a few fridges with beer and drinks. Do you even know what a fucking bodega is?

It probably varies based on location then, I live in lower Manhattan and all the bodegas are like the ones in the post you responded to

He's right, you know. NYCers are just so full of it that they think their slop is the best in the world. Every pizza place in NY claims to be "NY's best" or "World Famous" they're really nothing special.

These are terrible places where black people do drugs in front of them and the cat inside sits on everything. I grew up having to go there when I had no choice. Any love towards them are pushed by out of town hipsters and latinos that drank in the back of the store

That anon isn't a new yorker he is a transplant from the mid west. Bodega sandwiches are cheap they have to because they attract ghetto clientele

Worked in New York for a summer a few years back and I miss these stores. London doesnt really have an equivalent. We have greasy spoon cafes which are great but not as convenient and not always near site.

Why do they all serve boars head ham and salami? Always wondered how boars head had such a monopoly on the market.

It's made different everywhere. My bodega guys are from Yemen, and they add tomatoes and lettuce, a packet of seasoning, and chipotle mayo. A+ chopped cheese.

Okay if he was a Midwesterner then wouldn’t he 100% know that nyc bodega transplant sandwiches are better then Midwestern ones?
I mean if your assumption is true then it would improve his argument

when my parents took me into the city to get a tumor taken out of my leg, my dad stopped at a bodega to pick up a whole bag of figs and then washed them in the hospital bathroom, ate all of them, got really hyper bc of the sugar, and annoyed the shit out of my up until the point they wheeled me into the operating room.

so i do not like bodegas.

why would you sell a fat man a bag of unwashed figs at 8 in the morning?
>Also how is your leg?
fine, thanks for asking. i had a rare procedure done where they essentially lit the inside of my tibia on fire. left a hole in my bone for a few months but it healed long ago.

It’s your American right to be able to buy shitty unwashed fruit at any time of day regardless of weight

you're allowed to sue the person who sold and profited off the crime. e.g. suing pharma for making money off of the opioid crisis.
i blame the bodega for my dad's actions.
you shouldn't be able to just wander down the street and get a bunch of figs before most supermarkets even open up. that's a task for grocery shopping hours.

How is you being hyper in a hospital a crime?

Also wouldn’t it be your dads fault for feeding a child unlimited figs?
I mean 7/11 sells soda 24/7 and you don’t see people getting pissed at them when someone’s kid is hyper because they let them drink a bottle of mt.dew and a jumbo snickers from 7/11

they're cheap because they have to compete with two other bodegas within walking distance ya dummy
