I like to beer batter and fry deenz and eat them with some homemade tartar sauce.

Drain the sardines
Dredge in batter thats equal parts flour and beer
Deep fry in oil (i do this in a cast iron skille)
Squeeze half a lime over them while they cool

Tartar sauce is just mayonnaise, mustard, sweet relish and lemon juice.

Mash them up and mix with eggs if you're a /fit/ fag for a nutritious protein bomb. I suggest topping the scramble with salsa, the vinegar cuts the fishiness and adds salt so you don't have to add too much while cooking.
Another favorite is making a cheesy ramen with the broken up chunks of sardine mixed in. As before the savoriness from the cheese cuts the fishiness and it adds a good amount of umami and protein.
You can mash the smaller sardines up and add them to soups or stews or even pasta dishes for a lot of added depth of flavor.

i am partial to eating my deenz on Carr's water crackers
however, all varieties of Carr's crackers were on sale, and i decided to try out some other types
sadly, the poppy and sesame variety does not go quite as well with deenz. the texture isn't as good, and the additional flavor is unnecessary and undesirable.
i have another variety to try, which is currently slipping my mind, but i will report back once i have sampled them.

Got some interesting news on the deenz

>Francisca Ribeiro, lead author of the study, says, “Considering an average serving, a seafood eater could be exposed to approximately 0.7 milligrams (mg) of plastic when ingesting an average serving of oysters or squid, and up to 30 mg of plastic when eating sardines.”

>Regarding the high concentration of plastic in sardines, the authors note the fish were purchased in bags made of low-density polyethylene.

>Citing recent research that shows opening such a bag can result in the shedding of microplastics, they predict these types of packaging may be an additional and significant polluting mechanism for seafood.

Last time I tried deenz (a really long time ago), spine definitely wasn't jello. It was really noticeable. I don't want to crunch on bone-like fish spine so I never ate them again. Was also told that that's how deenz are supposed to be and that I should just ignore the unpleasant crunchyness.
Was I fooled? Did I eat just some shitty deenz or are they actually like that? Jello is the last thing I would use to describe fish spine I ate.

AHEM SPRATS are the the real best `"deenz"`
Spratz are why countries recovered from communism. Smoked spratz are delicacy that of deeenz cannot compare.
Westerner has a tomboy fetish no? spratz sound like spatz now? I learn this because of semitic error.
spratz is the stongerest of can fish.
just rememeber that spratz is most best tasting and strongest. Sardines are pooppo trying to keep up.
False freinds of they fish might say "oh deenz" but they are talking of anglish fish.
If not believe eat `sprattus sprattus` true fish that is best in world.

I bought a fuckton of tinned smoked herring when I was stocking up for corona a year ago. Just popped one open for the first time and had it with some crackers, it was good.

Thinking it'd pair well with some salted rye crackers, cream cheese, and fresh dill.

i was scared too because people said there was the spine and all the other stuff inside. well i didnt notice it at all. i just dug my fork in, and noticed that it breaks up the sardines pretty easily, put some in my mouth and started chewing. all i was thinking about was the flavour. the texture was nice, and there was nothing off putting about it. i enjoyed them, but they would be much better with some lettuce, tomato, onion and some bread. or add anything you want to make it taste better. butheres my secret: i got drunk beforehand, so i had some courage to try them. just put some in some bread, with some other stuff you like, and put it in your mouth. chew and enjoy and thin about how you can post about deenz

psst, i know its proabably too late unless you got some in a fridge, but sour cream is tits on top, at least with a nice crackers like a nice buttery ritz. don't think i'd enjoy it as much on a saltine. also, on crackers, I like the deenz that come in hot sauce. mustard was okay. plain deenz in water on crackers first time; an acquired taste i had to work at (hence the sour cream).

Polar
Riga Gold

Crown Prince
Nuri

If you want them warm, you put them on something hot.
Like, toss the sauce with some long pasta (angel hair), place the fishes on top of the hot saucy mess and let the pasta warm the fish.

Buttered bread is better than crackers.

Yeah, but Brunswick is pretty OK.
Maybe not fancy gourmet hand-packed by Portuguese grandmothers, but far better than CotS/BB/Beach Cliff.

You can maybe hit up an asian ethnic grocery to find the round can flip deenz for a change of pace.
