For 2 quarts I bring 2 cups of water to near boil, but not quite. I then pour into a measuring cup containing 3 small black tea bags and then I let steep for 10 minutes. I pour it into a 2 quart pitcher and fill remaining with cool water. I stir in 2/3 cup sugar and I pour a serving into a cup full of ice.

I use a glass pyrex like OP. The last time I made iced tea in a metal container, it gave me a nose bleed.
