I've heard about some fancy small-batch microbrew soy sauces that are better than kikkoman, but I've never had them. I went to a Japanese market once and they had a whole aisle of soy sauces, many of which were expensive and came in glass bottles wrapped with paper and ribbon. All the names were in japanese and I couldn't tell what any of them were, so I didn't buy one but I should have.

For general uses, PRB gold label.
There are certain applications where Kikkoman (Japan) Usukuchi is better yet.

If you can't tell the difference, you'll be happy with Kikkoman (Wisconsin) products, or maybe even La Choy.

Its bad because a majority of tasters hated it?
Or its bad because you have a negative opinion of the country?
There actually are situations where extremely poor people can produce a superior product, simply because they have both time and expendable labor to invest real effort. A richer country like Japan is not going to do that, but just maybe flips would. What else do they have to do?

to be fair, i've never really read a soy sauce nutritional label before since it is generally just bad for you.
