The first Trader Joe's is opening up in my city and I have never been into one before. What honestly makes it different from other grocery stores and what should I get? Other than the typical everything but the bagel seasoning, cookie butter, or the frozen meals.

Pros: cheap, stuff you can’t find elsewhere
Cons: usually busy, parking is a bitch

their generic brand stuff is usually pretty good and definitely cheaper, I would just avoid butchered meats. They don't have a butcher on sight so everything in the store is brought in from who knows where

It's good if you're going on a picnic, however, there is no reason you should be buying groceries at trader joes unless you're a child or menopause mom who can't cook. Any item that has any practical use is no better than its great value counterpart.
Imagine aldi but more expensive, and retarded niche and seasonal items making up half of the store.

I've never been to one because one of the most annoying people I know works at one. This is completely irrational but it's one of those "if it's good enough for him there's no fucking way I'm going in there".

They have some unique products. Inner Peas taste different than branded Pea Snaps. Soi Flax Seed tortilla chips are unique and one of the healthiest foods in the entire store by nutritional density. And there's more to be seen if you browse the store carefully. They have good supplements, good juices, and so on. Whole Foods Market is somewhat better but their pre-prepared foods are way more expensive and you mostly need to stick to 365 or veggies there where at Trader Joe's you can get pretty much whatever you want there without it costing an arm and a leg.

How so? Seems to fit pretty much every purpose I'd need except for some rare goodies from Whole Foods Market like ancient grain flour or some unique veggie burgers or specific brands like Valentina hot sauce or specific salsa brands, but still good alternatives for the most part.

True enough about their produce, I mostly survive off of stuff like soi flax seed tortilla chips, dark chocolate, calcium-fortified orange juice, their chewable multivitamins, their lentils, rice, pizza, and some other stuff. Also try their frozen fruit, it's pretty good quality, they have good frozen soi beans but I don't like them as much as the soi flax seed tortilla chips. also very good value grapeseed oil and olive oil, I like grapeseed oil for cooking and olive oil for dipping in their dark pumpernickel tuscan pane bread.

A place that white people like to go to since it has a few pretty good in-house things (wine, frozen lasagna, coffee, and the GOAT marinated artichoke hearts) but is actually a cleverly disguised liquor store.

It's a poorly managed corporate grocery store with good staff, a decent selection of packaged food, generally good frozen food especially Indian, good beer and wine selection, and generally not great meat or produce except for the fruit.
