Original replier here. My alcohol tolerance is pretty poor, and work keeps me perma-tired enough that any decent amount of alcohol will make me want to just go to bed immediately, though I have more work that I need to complete. I posted pic related a few days ago as a haul I got that I was looking forward to sampling. Well, I got dragged into more overtime, so I've been tired enough that the only thing I've had a chance to try was the gin. (It was good, though the exact opposite of a London dry.)

Additionally, sometimes, we'll do few little pours over the course of one night to compare whiskeys. This usually happens when I get a new bottle. I can't go ham with heavy pours when we're popping the cork on 6 bottles. I try to enjoy the flavors of the alcohol and tease out the flavors. I also really despise feeling drunk. [soiboi wojak goes here]

You also have to understand that whiskey is not the only thing I drink. I also drink gin, rum, cocktails, beers, amari, and the occasional wine. Whiskey is a frequent but not sole occupier of my alcohol rotation.

I wanted to like it, but I think this stuff is a bit out there for me. I'm starting to like tequila a lot and this sotol is fairly similar overall, but it's just a little too herbal/earthy with some other weird notes I'm not a fan of.

>I've been doing some research and it appears you can get some really good brandys from Spain that are the same quality but significantly cheaper then what your pay for Congnac... Thoughts?
I'm assuming you're an Irishman in burgerland? I have only tried Cardenal Mendoza and Gran Duque d'Alba. They are as nice as anything from France IMO, but also quite different from Cognac and not really cheaper than a good VSOP (around $50-$60). Last time I was at Total Wine I did notice a couple of other brands that were on the cheaper side, one of them was a Torres for around $20. I'm tempted to give it a try.
As an aside, I picked up a mini of Courvoisier VSOP on a whim the other night, and was really surprised at how good it was. The big cognac houses get shit on a lot for being a bad value and all marketing, but I have to say this stuff is pretty legit. I remember the last time I tried it was at a bar a couple years back, and also being pleasantly surprised then. I think it's much better than Hennessy VS and it's only 5 bux more here.

OK, bros, I have recently just started my foray into whisky drinking.

A few months ago I bought a bottle of regular Maker's Mark bourbon, as it was on sale at my local grocery. It seemed very bitter to me.

A few weeks after that I bought a bottle of 10yo Glenmorangie, again because it was on sale at my local grocery. I like it a lot more than the MM bourbon. It's not nearly as bitter as the Maker's Mark bourbon.

After that, I've been trying some of those little 1 or 2 oz sample bottles of different liquors that they have near the checkout aisles at local groceries. I think I'm a tastelet, as all bourbons seem to taste the same to me.

Then earlier this week, on a whim, I decided to try a bottle of Grand Marnier. I drank a shot glass of the Grand Marnier, and I liked it a lot better than any bourbon or scotch I ever tried. However, right after that first shot of GM, I decided to drink a shot of Maker's Mark. However, that shot of Maker's Mark tasted completely different than before. It was a lot less bitter tasting than before. Then yesterday, a few days later, I drank another shot of GM and then a shot of the Glenmorangie. After the GM, the Glenmorangie now tasted like slightly flavored water.

Is this caused by the Grand Marnier? FYI, Grand Marnier is 51% Cognac and 49% Orange Liqueur. Does it change the taste of other liquors you drink after it? Has anyone else had the same experience with other alcoholic beverages, changing the taste of other alcoholic beverages?

>> No.15309462

>> No.15309509

It's how your palette works. It's a big aspect of food/alcohol pairings and how well prepared food stand on. Another way of thinking about this is when you eat something really sweet like candy, and then you reach for something less sweet and end up not tasting much of the less sweet food. You also "cleanse" your palette by tasting something with drastic different flavors between courses or dishes (like those yellow pickled ginger in sushi places).
That being said, the first sip of anything will always be very different to the subsequent sips. Not to mention this is your first foray into whisky, so if you drink (not just shoot) more and more whisky, your tastes will get better at picking out certain things about whisky in general. This kind of goes true with anything you eat or drink.

It sells for £180 and up from what I've seen.

You can tell an older version because it was aged in Oloroso only. Newer bottlings are ages in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez. Should say on the label

One time, your sweet mother turned up and told me she wanted to try something new. Out of nowhere she pulls out one of those enema bulbs. She warmed up some water in the microwave and put it in the bulb. Her hands were so soft and she pulled my cheeks apart and she slowly emptied the bulb up there. Told me we had to wait a while so she gave me a foot massage while I watched a quick episode of miami vice on the starz streaming app.

Then she looked in my eyes and kissed a line from my sternum down my navel around my cock to my gooch. Then I felt her circle my sphincter with her tongue once so it puckered and felt the warmth of her lips around it and I tell you she sucked that warm enema juice right out of me. Her head came up and her eyes with the lids laid halfway down her pupils and shut her jaw and emptied the contents of her mouth down her throat and then opened her empty mouth to show me. I was so impressed it only took a few bobs of her head to finish me off. I sipped a finger of the peated kilkerran she brought me.

Your mother is a very giving woman anon. Where is she right now?
