Why do Americans stomach this? It tastes super processed and has the consistency of fucking plastic. Get some cheddar or some other good cheese and cut it ffs.

Melted American cheese doesn’t suck though, it’s one of the best cheeses for a burger, and other cheeses like cheddar simply don’t have the same melting quality and split into some greasy mess.

It’s simply just fashionable to say American cheese is bad, but in reality it’s a clear sign that you’re a pleb, that’s completely clueless about food, and a person that simply follows trends like a sheep and is incapable of forming their own opinions.

Tell me what kind of plastic tastes like cheese. Can you even name one plastic? Here's a freebie: ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. I know that stuff doesn't taste like cheese.

The use of the word "plastic" comes from the legal definition of what constitutes "American cheese". (As upheld by the US Code of Federal Regulations)

American cheese is "plastic" as in "pliable", not as in an "organic polymer". I understand, a lot of ESLs have trouble with English words having multiple meanings. Simply put, a number of cheese are considered under the legal definition of "American cheese". If it is plastic (pliable), instead of being crumbly or fluid, then it's American cheese.

Bait answer: yuro dumb lol
Real answer: because you're eating processed garbage from a multinational corporation that virtually all Americans recognize is bad. Kraft is literally below Boars Head in quality and Boars Head is like the bare minimum that I would be willing to accept. The only "American cheese" you have experience with is the trash garbage that can survive a trip across the Atlantic. Of course it's going to be the bottom of the barrel. You can go to the Deli counter of any American supermarket and get cheese thats 300% better.

Am I supposed to? I don't take issue with saying that it sucks. I don't understand what kind of answer OP thinks there is to that specific question. Like there's some objective fact to explain his opinion.

What the fuck are you talking about? All cheese that's not crumbly or fluid is automatically American? Plastic is an adjective now? Who's the real ESL here? Your brain is plastic.

Yes, my brain IS plastic. It's pliable and easily able to adjust to concepts which I had not previously known. The whole obsession over "plastic" cheese comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of the meaning of the word.

>>15222101
Well, that's an issue for the time period. Suffice to say that "plastic" is an adjective when referring to cheese that is "plastic", under the definitions set out by the US Code of Federal Regulations.

I was on your side, but now you're confusing me with the verbal fluff. An issue for the time period? I don't know what you're saying or why you're saying it. I just proved you right, THAT is the sufficiently said part. If you wanted to add to that, it should be by showing where it's defined by the Fed Regs.
