It's not a matter of validation, I actually get less of that now than I used to, overall. But the nature of gender dysphoria is just having a deep unsettled sense of sadness about your gender. I tried really hard to work through it for years. But ultimately even if I started a family and had a wonderful life, I know that I would've laid there at night thinking sometimes "I just wish I could have been a woman..." It's a mental illness, and it's a horrible one. We don't deserve abuse for it.

For me, my decision to transition when I did was driven by the knowledge that if I were to transition later in life, there is a very good chance I would have already had a wife and kids -- to me it is unconscionable to try to reconcile gender transitioning when you have created a family and had other people center their lives around you -- so I chose to transition in my early 20s instead, when I would have some chance of passing. Mostly I pass okay physically, but my voice gives me away, and I'm not really into the idea of trying to play up a fem voice when I have a really good spoken voice already. This is a story about boy named Patrick
Patrick was a real special kind of fag, I don't think he was autistic but he was definitely retarded. He was in all special ed classes and had an aid.
