If you're healthy and relatively young you should just drink when you're thirsty. Have a glass or bottle of water handy so you can have a sip when you want to, but don't force yourself.

I just have a glass of water near me at all times. Whenever I think of having a snack, I sipp. Whenever I'm stuck or just thinking about a problem, I sipp. When I have a break, I sipp. When I feel tired and want coffee, I drink water instead. When I need to take a piss, I get some more water on the way. When the glass is empty, I take an extra trip to the sink to refill.
My piss is entirely clear and odourless. My skin is fine. If I had been a fatty before starting to do this, I would have lost some weight.

I think there really is a huge difference between an RN from the US and one from, for example, Denmark.
I went to Danish nursing school and there was a LOT of focus on the exact opposite of what you describe; they made a big deal out of not seeing the patient as just a diagnosis to be treated and to have a holistic view of the person etc. etc.
We had to read a lot of "nursing theory" about this.
There was also a lot of focus on teaching us how to learn more on our own and staying up to date instead of trusting what we had learnt in school to remain true and valid over the years.

There are similarities as well, though. One obvious one being that nurses in both countries have a very inflated sense of importance, which they constantly reinforce in one another.
Yes, they are important and the ones I've worked with all did a good job, but from the way they talk about themselves you'd think they're all better doctors than the doctors and possibly also the second coming of the Christ.

And even with all the education there are still plenty of gullible ones who believe they're fat because of genetics rather than because of the cake in the breakroom. Or they swear that some crystal healer helped them quit smoking. Bonus points if the healer uses the word "holistic" because that's a word they remember from school.

The ones I work with definitely don't see the patient as just a mannequin or a lump of meat, though. I'll give them that.
