Why are americans so obsessed with comparing burgers from different chains

Actually the fries are the worst thing about In-N-Out. The type of potato they use, I find unpleasant. The best fast food fries belong to McDonalds (I mean the fries that were cooked in beef tallow before the screeching vegans told them to stop).
