My dad's beef stew, nothing comes close to anything canned. I don't know of that many places that do a beef stew anyways, but he would start it at 6am and let it sit all day taste testing it and working on it. With the beans not being bitter or mushy and the beef just falling apart but with so much flavor it was something I looked forward to each winter.

My dad has been dead for 14 years and I miss these moments of being around our table and actually satisfied with food. Now I just eat because I have to with no enjoyment.

Alright maybe I should have been more clear sorry
I am not from this board and have absolutely 0 cooking skills. I'm in college and all I do is steam vegetables and fry eggs. So when it comes to anything I have no idea what I'm doing.
Boil with how much water? does it scale with the other ingredients I have? by how much? Do I add the other "flavor stuff" in with the soup while it's cooking or after? What do you mean by cream? Like the shit people put in their coffee? How much of these ingredients do I need to last me a week? What about meat? Do I have to cook the meat before I put it in the water? Can I use green onions instead of regular onions? I really have no idea, I just need some sort of set of clear instructions I can follow once a week like an NPC.

This thread is comfy.

After Christmas when hams are on special I make 10 liters of pea and smoked ham soup.
Then after a roast chicken I make chicken and corn soup, which though not very interesting gets rid of all my left over roast veg.
I used to make Chinese hot and sour soup a lot, but it's a nuisance for ingredients when making it as a side

Egg drop soup? Am I the only one who likes it? It's humble filling and you can get a pint for like 2.50 American.

It's a nationalist dish from the very short moment when they had access to the Mediterranean. The name of the dish actually translates to "forever seething". Fun thing is the fish used for the soup are imported from that precise region which is now the Dalmatian coast.

OP asked for favorite soup, and 90% of replies are fucking brands/cans rather than actual soup.

This board, much like your births, was a mistake.
