How do you like your hot dogs, /ck/?

I'm aware that there's countless possibilities. But I'm interested

a) what your all time favorite hot dog is
b) what your go-to hot dog is, for when you don't want to spend hours prepping.

I like a chicago dog.
in a time crunch I am happy with just a plain dog with mustard.
I like the hot dogs that are sold individually in the deli case at Fresh Market.

Yellow mustard on a natural casing dog. Add kraut if im feeling fancy. That said top-tier dog is the crappy sugardale franks at dollar dog night at the ballpark on a warm summer night.

People don't "hate" it; that's just a meme from Dirty Harry and Chicago. Most adults don't get ketchup because it doesn't really go well with other toppings and is really kind of just bland, despite being overpowering.

It's hard to make a bad hot dog, the meat in it takes to almost any flavor, you could have a hot dog every day for a month, prepare them in a different way each time, and none of them would be bad, that's how flexible the hotdog is

b) mostly chicago dog (but I can't find poppyseed buns in my midwestern shit hole and I also sub sliced banana peppers for the sport peppers because they're easier to find)
c) every so often I'll do some spicy mustard and kraut, or whip up some chili dogs

I would have to disagree about ketchup. I think it works fine with a lot of other toppings. Also works great with hot sausage on a bun because of the contrast of flavors and temperatures.

The best hot dog is the sonoran dog but the coney dog is also great. My easy go to hot dog is a boiled dog with mustard and raw white onions.

I have never seen a sonoran dog served like that. Every one I've ever had is bacon wrapped with pinto beans, raw and grilled onions, tomato, jalapeno sauce, mustard and mayo.

My favourite is the Danish hotdog with the works. It's what I get when I'm at the trough and also what I make at home on those rare occasions. Never had much to compare it with since all countries around me lack a hotdog culture.

Pic related are the best hot dogs I've ever had. Grilled and then onto a soft potato bread roll and then add a bit of sliced sharp cheddar cheese. Put this under the broiler just long enough to get a light toast on the bread and to melt the cheese. Then apply spicy brown mustard and relish or yellow mustard and chili. Absolutely delicious
