I don't remember what exactly happened after that. The police arrived, my dad was crying, I had to talk to the police for a few hours, then I just started crying and vomiting again. The next three weeks were a blur. My mom had been raped and beaten to death by some dude who still hasn't been caught. Easily the worst day of my life.
I haven't eaten a baby carrot since. Even searching for an image of baby carrots almost gave me a panic attack. I'm fine with regular carrots, though
TL;DR: I was eating baby carrots before I discovered my mom raped and murdered, can no longer eat baby carrots.

I remember this mediocre pad thai from this place in Hillcrest, in San Diego. It was a bit too thick, and you could taste the tamarind, instead of it remaining a pleasant backnote.
I remember it because it was the last meal i ate before i reached the unquestionable peak of my life, which was taking my childhood friend's virginity during a threesome with her and her lesbian gf

lots. mostly the memory of the food, then associated with the general time and place. trying to think of the event made the food memorable. well, heres a boring one. i used to do all night dungeon and dragon campaigns at friends houses. i would bring along a can of chili, and a block of cheddar cheese, for my meal. felt like my meal was more substantial then the other guys, who did top ramen or cup noodle. this was 1979 or so.

Ronald McDonald Birthday cookie.
It wasn't me eating it, I was sitting in a neighbors yard under a tree waiting for a friend to get back from somewhere,(the '80s were a very different time,) And the eldest brother of the kids who lived there had stolen his sister's Ronald McDonald birthday cookie. If anyone remembers these, they were about a foot long and shaped like the eponymous clown and covered with a rock hard icing that was more candy than icing and served on a white styrofoam tray. He didn't realize any one was around,(I was sitting behind a large tree trunk from his perspective,) and began to crunch into the thing. It must've been stale too because it was apparently rock hard from the sound of it. Something about that late summer day that I'll never forget as a strange tingling run up my spine and settled in the nape of my neck, radiating outward anew with every stolen crunch of that cookie. ASMR wasn't even a named thing then, and I've never had as strong a reaction as that day again, but I will remember the details of that day until my deathbed.
Anyone remember those giant cookies? I've looked EVERYWHERE for pics of them online. My ASMR also disappeared around 2012 so if it's a timeline shift, that's when it happened, lol.

Yes, pic related but not any good memories. My father used to pick up these sometimes from the corner store when we ran out of cookies for a quick snack. But the only feelings I have with these are intense sadness. During the years my father bought these I was in high school. It was the height of my depression and suicidal tendencies. My high school was one of the best in the country and was so rigorous I used to get maybe 4 hours of sleep a night since the rest of the time was spent on work. I wanted to die to badly. My mother once brought be some on a napkin with some milk at 2am in the middle of the week and I just broke down crying. Like uncontrollably just wishing I could die. I haven't shared this memory at all, probably no one will ever read it, but I feel a little better posting about it.

Yes those smiley potato's you posted. My family was ice skating and next to it was a cozy restaurant for the ice skating customers. We got a plate of these smileys, never seen them before and chocolate milk. It was delicious. Dad said we had to leave after I finished eating and I started crying because I didn't want this beautiful day to end. That's when I first got that impending doom of time always progressing thing starting in my head. When I lost my first teeth too, when dad sold the car and things like these I kept crying for days. It's inevitable. I'm quite old now. It goes really quickly.

Also smarties. Especially in some sort of plastic fake grey soda can. We had some hedgehog obsessed fat girl staying over with us, me and my sister started feeding her a lot of food throughout the day simply because she was obese. The tipping point was this smarties can and she puked all over my sisters barbies while we were playing. It was brown and I could detect some white grey mini smarties in it too. Almost made me vomit myself and my sister cried the fat girl vomitted on her singing barbies.

I remember being about 5 years old and my mom threw me into a horrible day care with three evil women who conspired together to keep us quiet and obedient. It felt like going to a haunted witches house.

They'd feed us canned ravioli almost every day. Thankfully, I loved the shit so I never complained. Once though, I suppose my stomach wasn't having any of it and I ended up running to the bathroom and projectile vomiting everywhere. The walls were painted in cheap pasta sauce and bits of ground beef. The sink, the floor, splatterings everywhere. It was impressive.

I'll still eat a can every once in a blue moon for nostalgia's sake.

One time, I was over for a few days at my friend's grandmother's house for New Year's celebrations. She served us banket, but I didn't know it was called until like 12 years later. I fucking loved it, and for some reason I mistook it for a kind of cookie. The taste was actually ingrained into my mind to the point that when I thought about that week or so in my life, I could imagine the taste.

I finally figured it out when my own grandma invited me over and served me some. It's the closest I've ever come to having a movie-flashback-tier vivid memory, probably because I didn't even know what it was when I first tried it.

when I was a kid, used to collect the yugioh tazos with friends and we would play a game against each other where you stack your tazo and a friend's, and hit them flat on the floor. Whatever came up face down was yours to keep. I think we used to do rock paper scissors on who got to throw down the stack.

Pancakes remind me of father. Every Christmas and other holiday or big family gathering he would make a mess of pancakes for the family. It's a nice warm feeling thinking about those times.
Eating pancakes alone just isn't the same.

I was fucking addicted to these little pizzas when I was a kid for some reason, but they were so depressingly small. I've thought about trying them again as an adult for the nostalgia and to see if they were as good as I remember but I've never actually seen them in the stores, I guess they don't make them anymore.

Kraft Mac n Cheese and Lunchables. My parents were workaholics while I was growing up where my dad would have drunken outbursts at night; as such they never really cooked as much, leaving me and my brother to fend for ourselves. I slowly became the cook of the house, but that really meant cooking pre-made meals or easy shit, including shit like Kraft Mac n Cheese and buying Lunchables.

I actually improved and focused on cooking over time, but there's something nostalgic about making and eating Kraft Mac n Cheese; even if I make macaroni and cheese just doesn't feel/taste the same. I haven't had Lunchables in a 10+ years but somehow I always feel like I want to buy one whenever I'm at the store.
