I've been thinking alot about beans and lentils lately. All kinds of beans. I've been cooking with them for years, fresh beans, green beans, dried beans, tinned ones, seasoned ones, roasted beans, stewed beans, baked beans, sweet beans, bean drinks... My most recent bean adventure was with the black turtle bean.
So, /ck/. I ask you, you are to be sentenced to exile - you may take two types of bean and you will never run out. Which two do you take? (And no, you can't take coffee 'beans' as they are not technically beans.)

For me, it would have to be the haricot bean and the broad bean (fava). Not only can both be cooked together, the broad bean can be eaten in a variety of different styles and enjoyed at all stages of its life.

Start thinking about those beans.

That's haricot isn't it? Or navy beans - I think there's only a difference in name.
Chickpea/Garbanzo is a worthy contender for King of the Beans. In the top five, I'm certain.

Red lentis give me heartburn if I eat too many, yet they're so good for you. So much fibre and protein.

has the Bean Boy grown into adulthood already?

i love broad beans but i'm allergic to them. the idea of being limited to two types of bean is really sad. i guess i'd pick adzuki beans and black-eyed peas.

I was forged and tempered in the bean garden, brought up by the butter bean, given succour by the soy, ruminated on the Runner and empowered by the pigeon pea.

Two I think forces you to make a hard choice.
I've never had an adzuki bean but I know they are regularly used in confection. Do they have a naturally sweet taste?

Kidney beans and red lentils, very easy choice. Chickpeas are great but aren't as nutritional as other options.
