Guys I’m having an afternoon backyard BBQ party at my place tomorrow. But one of my friends is a vegan. What’s something good to put on the BBQ that’s also vegan friendly?

Nothing. If it's cooked on the grill and smeared with meat juice it's not vegan
Don't bother trying to accommodate them. If they have been a vegan for any length of time, they will know that BBQs are always a lost cause, and eat beforehand

Most grocery stores sell big portobello mushroom caps. You can grill them just like you would a burger. For flavor bonus, soak them in italian salad or balsamic vinegar and garlic dressing before grilling. Your vegan friend will thank you for being considerate and cool like this. Good job on being a good person, OP.

Cauliflower and corn. Black pepper, cayenne and garlic salt. Not as a prank or anything it just tastes great

Marinate sliced eggplant rounds in Italian dressing and then grill them. Flip them once, put Parmesan cheese or some vegan alternative, melt it and serve.

Cauliflower actually would make a good option too. Wrap it in a foil pouch with some oil and seasonings and herbs and shit (sucks you can't use butter) and grill it.

Just google "Vegan BBQ". Tons of ideas.

Grilled tofu
veggie skewers
grilled eggplant
CARROT DOGS
grilled cauliflower
grilled portobello mushrooms
grilled corn
Even grilled watermelon.

Just make sure you clean and reserve the part of the grill that you intend to cook the vegan food on

I would ask them, or offer a choice of at least 3 things. Vegan= picky eater, so though you can say hey man would you like a soy dog added to the grill with our stuff or that taboulleh-feta salad you made, you still run the rick of "oh, I don't like that brand of soy dogs" or "I don't do cheese" or something.
I always do a platter of grilled veggies when I'm grilling, its zero trouble and if they aren't utterly devoured, I have fabulous grilled addtions to my menu the next day to toss into a salad or on top of pasta.
Slice up big planks of eggplant, zucchini, sweet onions, portobellas, bell peppers, marinate in olive oil, balsamic or lemon, salt, pepper, choice of herb. Grill them first, lay them back on the platter of your marinade, finish with more herbs and bit of lemon. That's it. Offer a roll or long garlic bread, also grilled, sice of chimmichurri, or a garlic aoili. Every one of these veggies and dips go nicely with some ethnic sausages next, chicken and steaks, so they're not singled out and everyone enjoys, and none of their veggies touched meat. You can grill some cheese topped veggies argentinean style too. As long as you make a tossed salad, a pasta or potato salad, or a slaw, you should be okay. Texas caviar is a good dip with beans. They'll have hot veggies, cold veggies, a starch, multiple textures, should be alright.
I think the chickpea mediterranean burgers are the best morningstar.

my mom made me sit at the table all night once to eat some shitty stuffed green pepper that I didn't like. Turns out years later, a doctor told me I have a slight allergy to peppers. one day she's going to get a taste of her own medicine.

imitation meat is gross.
cauliflower, some mushrooms like shiitake, porcini, chicken of the woods, eggplant are the more "meatier" veggies.

Free range eggs. Vegans love free range eggs. Just make sure it's a surprise. He'll have so much to say about it, you know, being full of gratitude and mentally stable thoughts.

Thanks for trying, but I'm still not going to eat food with meat grease splattered all over it from other items on the grill
It will make me sick
