How much of a difference does eating breakfast vs. not have on you? I hear lots of people saying breakfast is a meme and I personally don't do any better or worse during the day for it, is it different for other people?

Breakfast is only useful for when you have a physical job to go to in the morning. If you do anything short of sitting in an office, working retail, etc, then you can wait until lunch to eat. It'll result in a healthier weight and less bloating since you aren't going to be burning off breakfast if all you're doing is pushing papers until 12 P.M..

Generally yes, you're better off fasting for a while after waking up. I usually do 3-5 hours of fasting, only drink water in the morning BUT if stress is a common denominator in your lifestly i woulnd't recommend it. It can fuck up your stomach, so avoid an empty one as much as you can.

Tried out almost all forms of fasting and one meal a day type stuff the past few years. In general, I found it's best to eat five hours or more before you plan on sleeping, it makes it easier to get a good nights sleep. This can mean anything from breakfast to a late lunch. I also found it makes a difference lifting weights when you've had breakfast vs lifting fasted, but I've been lifting for ten years now. If you are in the novice stages of lifting, it makes a lot less of a difference. Although I do still prefer cardio fasted over having ate that day. I am generally flexible on the circumstances except for eating late.

>> No.14610170

>>14607849
What are you, dense? By definition, any meal you have after you wake up is breakfast. You can't skip it. You can though skip your garbage shit excuse of a meal you call breakfast that's pancakes/waffles and a shittload of desserts with boiled bean water.

>> No.14610212

I tend to do better without it. I'm also pretty over most traditional US breakfast food, because I worked ER night shift for 5 years and that's all that I could really get for my "dinner" if I didn't bring anything. You can consider whatever you eat as "breaking fast", but I wouldn't really consider breakfast anything after the first 2 hours after waking up. I might not do anything other than coffee or a sips, than have a large lunch, a medium dinner, and a small 4th meal.

dunno what you mean. if i lift on an empty stomach, i have to stop before i throw up. i need to get fresh air for like 20 minutes before driving back home. never lifted for more than 2 years at a time consistently, but have started/stopped lifting for like 6 months at least a dozen times.

Breakfast is also necessary for my diet. I need at least 100g of protein per day for gainz and if i dont get started early i will have to cram at the end of the day and its not evenly spread out.

My fault for being unclear. I have found a positive benefit to lifting when I have had food that day. I have more energy for lifts needing more than five reps and need less rest time between sets.

However, a novice's program should include relatively less weight to not overtax the ability to recover while they are learning the lifts and their body adjusts in general.

It sounds like you might be past the novice point, although the long breaks would warrant a short restart period as you adjust to heavier weights again. You may also want to re-evaluate your program that you are not outpacing your body's ability to recover.

Regardless of that, have you expireimented with BCAAs? I would recommend trying 10 grams of BCAAs before lifting fasted to counteract the downsides of lifting fasted. I got this tip from Martin Berkham (Leangains).

It depends on what and how much breakfast you eat, and what and how much other stuff you eat, and when.

Some people do ok on OMAD, some people do better eating 5 or 6 tiny meals. Also depends on how much physical activity you're doing, and if you're taking some medications.

We've evolved that hunger reflex over millions of years to keep us alive; probably ok to eat when you're hungry and not eat when you're not hungry.
