This chicken expired yesterday and normally I'd be fine with that as they're usually really conservative with the expiry dates but it seems like the chicken (or something else in there) has absorbed so much air that the package is collapsing in on itself. I've heard of microbial growth causing packages to expand but never shrink, what's going on with it? Do you think it's still safe to eat?

i find that raw chicken doesn't smell great and does indeed have a slight smell to it. but chicken that has gone bad is not subtle. you will know it's bad when you smell it because it's enough to make you pull away.
