I don't really care about that to be honest. I probably would get sponsors too if I were in that position and making youtube my full time job. Not to mention having a camera crew and stuff to pay. I like the production of the show for sure. What I mean by insufferable personality though is his lack of humility. I can't stand that fucking gold rolex his cringe being with babish videos and him essentially always showing off. It got old really, really fast. My go to cooking videos are now produced by a great smaller youtuber named
Vito Iacopelli. He is an Italian dude that often makes pizza. Very humble, upbeat personality and always a joy to watch. Also the channel Orsara Recipes is focused on an Italian Grandpa who is just superb. Funny, great wholesome recipes and an all around joy to watch.

And of course I'd be doing a disservice if I did not recommend Jacques Pepin. His "Fast Food My Way" series is a must-watch for the average home cook. It is also very relaxing if you are stressed out. Not going to lie I sometimes fall asleep to them.

I genuinely liked him a lot when he was trying to make fictional recipes from media that didn't actually exist. Now it's just "uh here's a panini this movie had it" or "pancakes from Seinfeld" or some shit like that. He should leave the actual recipes to his "basics" series and keep trying to recreate fictional recipes instead.

I have no problem with a food youtuber using someone else's recipe. In my opinion food youtube is more about showing you how to make a recipe than anything else so I think cooking skill and video production quality are more important than someone being able to create their own recipes every time. I'm definitely not a fan of his "Being with Babish" videos. They definitely give off that insufferable personality vibe. What I really like are his basics videos. I've used some of those recipes to varying success. I also appreciate that he goes super in depth into some of his binging recipes because I think this familiarizes you with cooking concepts you might not otherwise look into.
His vlog videos are self important to the point of being cringey, his binging videos are okay sometimes, and honestly I really appreciate his basics videos. I think that I would personally appreciate if he moved away from the pop culture foods and more towards just foods for home chefs but I understand the pop culture stuff is what's bringing him the views. I don't enjoy every episode of his but I definitely watch every now and then.
