Hemingway Daiquiri:
60ml white rum
10ml maraschino liqueur
10ml simple syrup
20ml lime juice
30ml grapefruit juice

The grapefruit is a pain in the as though, because a whole grapefruit gives you like 200ml of juice. So you have to drink either a few daiquiris or the grapefruit juice itself. The fact that many recipes require even less grapefruit juice makes it even worse.

As >>14046522 said. It loses its acidity and tardness. In most cases i squeeze one half of the grapefruit and put the other half in a plastic back in the fridge. You still end up with too much juice in most cases. Drinking the shot of juice that's left, because you wouldn't use it otherwise still kinda feels like a waste as grapefruits are kinda expensive here.

I've been making some syrups lately for a friend (grenadine, cinnamon, passion fruit, now attempting falernum god help me there's never any limes when you need them). Is there like a cocktail site where you can punch in the ingredients you have and it spits out the possible cocktails you can make of it? Say I enter "rum and lime" and it recommends "if you had mint you could do a basic mojito, here's the recipe and cocktail name". I used to be have a link to a cooking site like this.

Also, anyone here ever made orgeat? Just the thought of making almond milk makes me wanna kill myself, can I just use store-bought almond milk and get a pretty similar result?

>How can you tell when a syrup goes bad? Texture? Flavor?
Mould. Never understood why some syrups start moulding within a few weeks and others last forever. Even with cooking the bottles and the syrup itself, i had simple syrup that started moulding after 3 fucking weeks.
So i'm only doing syrups myself if they're cheap and easy to make or if i know that i'm gonna use the whole bottle in the next time. Some things are absolutely uneconomical to make yourself here in Europe like tropical fruit syrups, because the fruits are expensive af. But on the other hand you can't get syrups with actual juice in it easily either.

My go to is even parts of the 1.75L for $8 vodka and sprite, but vodka and mineral water is better imho. I love sours usually 3pt bourbon, 2pt lemon, 1pt ss. Mules are really nice, palatable with cheap ingredients, and rich with the proper ingredients.
