But my old roommate had one and it worked fine in order to cook. Made scotch eggs, french fries, and falafels in it. Cooks well, tastes good, but actually fried food tastes better for me. If you don’t want grease/fat, air friers are fine and get the texture of fried foods much better than baking alternatives.

No but it is set up to do a whole chicken. The chicken stands upright in the basket with the axle shaft poking straight through the bird. Then at the top there is a fork that you stick into the top of the bird to keep it centered. It rotates slowly and cooks a 5 pound chicken in about an hour iirc.

The whole thing comes apart pretty easy for cleaning too. Even the aluminum reflector behind the heating element pops out.

I want to try a pot roast in it and some kebab.

thought they were a meme, got one from a family member. It's replaced like 95% of my oven usage and a lot of my frypan usage.
If you're only cooking for 1 or 2 people they're amazing.
Obviously they're a great way to cook frozen stuff like nuggets, tendies, chips, battered fish, but you'd be surprised at how good they are at other things.
It's basically an oven with a lot of hot air movement, and with a little bit of oil spray it replicates to an extent shallow frying. In addition to chicken parts (which it's really good at doing) I've actually made a whole chicken in it a few times (butterflied and whole, butterflied is the best way), I cook burgers in it regularly, sausages are good and you don't get the oil splatter
About the only things it can't do are eggs, obviously you can make stews or things that require boiling/poaching, it can do basic bread but not anything over fancy.

Yes it will. Steel is denser than stone. It conducts and stores heat better. The stone will crack if you place it close to the broiler which is key in the cooking technique in the home oven. You preheat the steel on the top or 2nd rack then turn the broiler on for a few minutes which will actually raise the temp of the steel beyond 550° which is the maximum setting of most home ovens. K have found that I can get my steel up to 700 degrees easily with this method.

The food literally ends up just as oily as deep frying, it's not like frying oil goes INSIDE the food but these dumbass boomers and trendy millenials don't put more than 10 seconds of thinking into their world views.

Don't get those kind of waffle irons.
You want waffle irons that have big, thick and heavy heating elements. Especially if you want to make authentic Belgian liege waffles.
These kind of small, "high tech" waffle irons will lose way too much heat and you won't be able to caramelize the pearl sugar properly.

I got this 4 years ago and love it.
I make ice cream 2-3 times every summer.
I feel like getting a more expensive machine wouldn't be worth it unless you make a shitload of ice cream.
Also my advice. If you do get this, crank your freeze to max and stick(with the mixer attachment) in the back of the freezer for 2-3 days, to get it as cold as possible. The colder the core, the better your ice cream will come out.

I own one, it's totally replaced using a deep fryer for me. I got tired of cleaning the oil out and replacing it, especially when my housemates would use up 80% of each oil change and I'd get maybe one or two cooks out of it. Even now that I no longer live with those shit roommates, the air fryer is just too useful to me. I only really use ovens now for baked potatoes because I find the consistency better, but for everything from frozen foods to niche dish parts like sliced beef/pork belly, it does a pretty fantastic job. I upgraded to one that was double the internal capacity on the theory that the convection component would work better with more space and that seems to be working out as I thought, so the same amount of food does cook quicker and has a better consistency if there's more of a void for the air to flow through.

Same experience at my job we had decided to offer a iou lunch Sharma because the owner is Saudi and our concept is Mediterranean/Middle Eastern so it fits. New menu rollout we bought two units 3k a piece one for chicken one for beef, garlic toum all ready, beef tallow on top of the beef and layered in, marinades all authentic. They barely sell the first week, the beef machine breaks entirely no heating element or spinning, the chicken machine stops spinning about a month later. Can't return them because the owner lost the warranty (probably never registered them) just cooking all shawarma on the flat top now until one of my cooks who is handy takes them home to look at them (he tinkers with electronics and shit and the chef figures they are trash anyway) Frankensteined one functional one from the other (think he swapped the heating element from the one that spun with the one that was entirely fucked and it took) so now chicken being the bigger seller is on the machine itself while beef is a la plancha the other sits in dry storage presumably for parts when the other finally kicks it again next month

Have you tried just asking a worker what the marinade is? I will say the chicken is bretty good and I use it in my sandwiches at work all the time. Even done on the flattop it still isn't dried out, ours was made by some Lebanese manager and two Saudi regulars had input, it's marinaded in the garlic sauce with onions and ras en hanout with some other spices so it's yellow colored

Basically a cross between a oven and a fryer.
It's defiantly not gonna give you deep fried food but it will be better than a regular oven when cooking chips.
It's definitely worth it if you cook for 1-2 and can't deep fry like a in apartment or dorm room.

No i am autistic about that sort of thing. I didn't think anybody would marinate with garlic sauce though, it's not a very spreadable consistency although I suppose I could add more olive oil or lime juice to it. Zankou is lebanese/armenian I think so maybe I'll look into what they use.

Nothing to brag about. Being a certified welder is merely one of my skills. Welding is an idiot profession, but it pays well. Out west I was a Carpenter Foreman and then Job Estimator. Structural welding was done by green as fuck apprentices and the clinically retarded. White men usually stuck to the plan table and passing out paychecks.

But I'm not traveling all over the southeast to be a Foreman or Stuporintendent and going home Evey other weekend. Manufacturing pays well and my commute takes 15 minutes down back roads in my Miata RF.

The shop has fans, and OSHA has samples the air and deemed it clean enough to not require a Respirator. Fuck off queer. Congratulations on being a certified idiot.

I bought one because I wanted to stop using a deep fat fryer, I wound up throwing it in the trash pretty fast.

If you only have a dogshit 50 year old gas oven, maybe these are alright. If you have a convection oven, these are just blatantly inferior garbage that cooks nothing well. If you want crispier fries, buy a 2 dollar mesh tray to cook on instead, and marvel at how you suddenly no longer get undercooked bottoms on them.

A garlic press doesn't mince garlic, it crushes it, releasing more oils. Which can actually be counterproductive because then cooking this down results in some bitter flavours, as opposed to garlic minced with a knife. So if you're already used to us, I wouldn't worry about getting one. But if you do get one for some reason, make sure you get one that can open up to be cleaned, those things are a pain in the fucking ass.

>>espresso machine
I'd recommend it if you drink coffee every day or specifically buy a fancier drink from coffee shops every day, it's so much cheaper to make your own coffee and you can customize it however you like in terms of sweetness or milk/foam ratio, and you can even get flavour syrups on Amazon. Plus it's a nice meditative activity to make a cup of coffee every morning. But for only occasional use probably not worth it, just walk to the coffee shop and treat yourself instead.

>>deep fryer
I thought about it and I honestly would if my kitchen had more storage space. But also, maybe it's a good thing I don't have one so I'm not tempted to fry shit as often. You can still use coffee filter or paper towel to filter used oil and store in a jar for later use if you just fry in a pot/pan.

I've never been able to get good results from the frozen bowl ice cream makers. It only ever gets it to 'half melted soft serve' and if I try finishing it off in the freezer, it turns into an ice block if you leave it in overnight. It just about works if you freeze it for an hour or two then eat it all at once but that kinda sucks.
