mexican food is overrated in the sense that it is pure poverty food and much of its "renown" in the states is because mexican immigrants are the largest non-white diaspora and so saying you love mexican food (taco trucks in every street corner) is an easy way to signal you're not an evul nahtzee who wants a border wall

there's a reason why there's so little mexican food in places like europe, east asia, and canada, whereas cuisine from india/japan/france are much more wide ranging and universally popular

Is vanilla ice cream and chocolate ice cream two separate desserts, or is the dessert "ice cream with a different flavor"?

banoffee pie is served cold and is open-top, and contains whipped cream on the top, then toffee and banana (sometimes in the form of a layer of toffee, followed by a layer of banana). depending on the specific recipie, the"pastry" of the pie will often just be on the bottom, and can be more of a biscuit base, making it more similar to a cheesecake than your average pie.
an apple pie on the other hand is a much more traditional style of pie, with a closed top, often served hot.
despite them both having the word "pie" in their name, apple pie and banoffee pie are really nothing alike.

Hyperbole does you no service here.
Lasagna is fundamentally different from Spagoot meetyboi. Two different pies are still made fundamentally the same, which is effectively equivalent to "bake crust with filling".

How is spaghetti Alfredo different than tagliatelle bolongnese?
The thickness of the pastas and its shape? the pies do that as well. The sauce? the filling is completely different in the pies. How the sauce is mixed with the pasta? well the layers work completely different on a banoffee and apple pie. Beans on toast tastes really good even if it doesn't look great. It's beans in a spiced tomatoe sauce. It's comfort food the same way Mac and cheese is in the US. It's not supposed to be some deep rich meal, it's just a good comfy meal with minimal effort.

What people don't realize is the quality of produce is different in bongistan. Our animals aren't raised on hormones and eating cement. If you have good produce you don't need to cover it in spices and herbs to disguise the taste. Only low quality and nearly rotten meat needs that sort of treatment.
