Since all these restaurants are dying due to covid why don't you take their spot and open a new restaurant when things open back up?

Why would I want a fucking restaurant? I pay people so I don’t have to do that shit.

I'm making a point to order take out from all of my favorite local spots and ordering extra, at least twice a week

A lot of restaurants are defaulting on loans and mortgages, going bankrupt. They didn't all get debt forgiveness.

There isn't enough disposable income to go around. Q3 is slated worse than Q2.

Why would I decide to open a business proven to be highly risky and with a high chance of failure as demonstrated even before the COVID-19 pandemic? This pandemic has if anything shown how fragile a lot of businesses are the moment work ceases indefinely. Those with giant cash reserves or really popular would no doubt weather the storm better than ones which are almost paycheck to paycheck in earnings and done as a labour of love.

I haven't ordered from my favorite bar but I'm probably not going to go back when it's open because I'm realizing many of the people I associated with there are idiots who would wheel their mom onto the train tracks so they can get back to playing video poker and drinking White Claw.

Yeah, no. We've lost two months of income, absolutely nothing coming in. Rent and loan repayments aren't on hold forever.

Because restaurants are cut throat and I refuse to spend 100 hour work weeks just to barely get by
