Cooking is a art, not a science. Nothing this guy cooks ever looks that appetising. He's just going on about science because he's one of those university educated liberals who think all the world's problems are caused by poor people choosing to deny science.

>> No.13997182

I feel personally attacked every time he makes some vaguely political aside.

I guess that's what a micro-aggression is.

I'm confused doesn't smoke point typically mean the oil will start smoking off the pan leaving you with less oil? When I use vegetable (soy) oil, it van withstand high heat without reducing immediately while olive oil tends to smoke off almost completely when I pour it into a piping hot pan. I had no idea it was some health nut bullshit. Am I retarded? I never looked into it before and just went off my own experience.

In a way they are. They have just been focusing their training entirely on food related chemistry.

>> No.13997292

>>13997285
I mean it will be slightly "less" since the water is cooked out. That's true for pretty much anything you put in a pan. Unless you're cooking a pan of nothing but oil for hours on end, the amount lost is negligible.

>> No.13997309

>>13997292
I typically use soy oil for high heat because if I need to add lots, I have plenty of extra. Olive oil is expensive for me. I can't imagine using high amounts of it when a good bottle can cost $15+. Plus I don't know why you would cook anything with olive oil on high heat when it is essentially searing or stir fry at that point. Do people deep fry in olive oil? Sounds like too much money.

>> No.13997327

>>13997309
Typically not. Regular frying however is not that expensive, unless you're using ungodly amounts of oil like the retarded fat fuck you are.

no oil will just evaporate like water unless it's not actually oil. it's more likely to catch fire than "smoke off almost completely"

>yes they work with the olive industry but their research is backed by science
This night says this three times in the first few minutes. I couldn’t keep watching. Of course their research is backed by published articles, how do you think any of this works? The sugar industry got America to believe that fat makes out fat (and not sugar) due to published, peer-reviewed articles. I don’t know how he could honestly think that someone who is funded by an industry is going to find a major flaw within that industry. This is ludicrous. Also, sippin’ on olive oil is almost as cringe as eating oven “fries” in camera next to a microphone

>education is inherently liberal
>being educated is bad
>"a art"
You sound like the liberal rattling off about art > science you fucking retard. Mylaird reaction, balancing acids, sugars, ext. temperature, time, and quantity- cooking is pretty close to science. Taste is very much scientific.

Go try and be political elsewhere you brainlet.

I generally like him, but I noticed that too. He tried very hard to deflect by saying "but that's usual for this"...many industries are in the pockets of elites, and there are cases of universities not funding or permitting research because of their funding tainting the "but others do it too!".

I liked the oven fries episode, but I cant help but cringe every time I see his veggie soup thumbnail with the soi face galore.

>art
Stop spouting off about art you liberal retard. Things taste good because of chemical reactions between food and your senses. There's some subjectivity, but overwhelmingly these things are very much scientific and stems from evolution. You like things because they're nutritious and cooked because that's what was evolutionary most beneficial.

Stop larping as a conservative because you're a brainlet who's most likely a trumptard that's a useful idiot for Jews.

I want to like him but can’t. I’ve seen maybe half of his videos. Normally, I’d like a no-nonsense approach that both challenges accepted norms while expanding on techniques that allow home cooks to succeed. But I really can’t get behind him. His delivery of the material and “controversy for controversy’s sake” only reminds me of bad academia where new problems are invented only to be able to be solved (maybe that lots of other areas too, but his rampant interviews/articles citations reminds me of school) His insistence on inserting his political/social outlooks and his inordinate reactions to criticism only further sour his content. There are plenty of class acts in the world of YouTube cookery. Adam, despite his popularity (read: viewcount) is not one of them
