Capitalism has never fallen even when the penalty for engaging in it was death. Look at the Soviet Union, or North Korea today. Markets will always emerge.

I walk about seven miles out of my city into some semi-rural areas and take potshots at rabbits. DIY's always your best option.

This is why you buy a whole cow at the start of the year and make use of it throughout the entire year.

The issue is you have millions of hogs that need to be processed and without the plants open to handle that kind of volume, they'll end up being euthanized.
If restaurants start opening back up well before slaughter houses can, there will be a lack of supply which could drastically raise prices. The market prices are dropping, but that doesn't mean the grocery stores and butcher shops will follow.

I'm aware of housands of market ready hogs that'll be killed this week from just one farm and another farmer that is having to kill the piglets right after birth.

It would be horrible if this shortage convinced people to open and utilize local butcher shops, the kind that nearly every town in America had prior to Big Ag taking over and forcing them out of business.

During the initial rush (week 1 or 2 of lockdown) my grocery store actually ran out of meat. The only thing left in the meat department was an 8 foot section full to the brim of plant-based "meat" lol. Not a single fucking package of that shit was sold.

It's funny because they're always making up the most outlandish scenarios in which it would be difficult to adhere to a vegetarian diet logistically just to test people and go "gotcha," and now an actual disaster happened that's going to force them to live without meat

That's the problem with veg and veg*n diets being pushed though, the obsession with purity. Cutting down meat to a couple meals per weak for nutrients while having veg as fodder isn't allowed.

This is a different thing all together. Processing plants are shut down. Farmers have crops and livestock with no where to go so they're dumping them and losing tens of thousands of dollars if not much more. Most farmers can't afford that and will be out of a job
