Correct. Did I get what I came for? No. For some reason my favorite yogurt is sold out, I can't get the brand of steel cut oats that I prefer, and for some reason everyone developed a sudden interest in one specific kind of dry beans that I prefer, so I had to go with a different kind. Oh also I had to buy a different brand of rice, and instead of KA bread flour I had to make do with Gold Medal whole wheat AP flour. Oh no! Now I know how the slaves felt!

Get over yourself sperg, 1 out of 1000 people died in my city. Not 1 out of 1000 hospitalized people, I mean there was literally a 1 in 1000 chance that any random person I saw wandering around the neighborhood in February is now in a mass grave. This. Whilst everyone was freaking out. I calmly waited until I had a free afternoon, went to the store whilst it was quiet, during the time when all the panic buying was at its peak, and grabbed a bunch of essentials, not being too picky. Tins, frozen meat and veg, cupboard bits. I bought some large packs of meat, divided them into portions and froze them in freezer bags. Bought some fresh loaves, sliced them and froze them in portions too.
Then, because I work at the store, I just do little shops in my breaks and get the odd thing my family wants as and when I see it. Only do like one big shop a week and most of that is for diet soda because its hot and we burn through it.
Still have tons of food left. So many store reductions now I just casually scoop up the odd bit. I got four 500g packs of mince for like 60p each the other day. Thats a good four meals there with some leftover pasta and sauces from like four months ago. I got half a cheese wheel for £6. Strong cheddar cheese is the best thing to stock up on because it lasts a long time.
The hardest part of all this is dealing with customers acting stupid and absent mindedly wandering over right next to you and ignoring instructions, and the boredom of being at home the rest of the week.
The stores stocks are really good. The only thing missing is flour and yeast and eggs because everyone's getting baking stuff to pass the time and entertain their kids.
This situation is pretty rough but its good to see it as an opportunity to try and learn new things and chill out at home.

Meat was actually pretty hard to come by in my neighborhood, all they had left was some sketchy mango flavor turkey sausages that I didn't want. So I just ate a whole bunch of random third-rate cheese instead (because the kind I like was gone), more beans and lentils (my non-preferred kind but it didn't kill me), and also ordered an extra tub of whey protein off Amazon so I still hit my macros. Not that it matters I guess because I'm not lifting anymore and I can hardly even get any real cardio in.

Meanwhile I see people online demanding that we murder our grandparents so they can go back to inhaling a basket of deep fried cheese sticks at the bar every night and ragetweeting about how they can't buy their favorite potato chips, like it's the Bengali Famine or some shit. You'd think people would take this opportunity to learn something new, but instead they just get angry and spend all their waking hours playing Animal Crossing and bitching online about Chinese people.

Well, I have my own projects still somehow. At the moment I'm into 3D printing. Cheap hobby. Going to learn some blender, and print some miniatures.
Just annoys me I get treated like an idiot by staff and customers alike when they don't even realise the goblin I modeled and 3D printed staring at them in plain sight.
I work there because I only work to earn money to play with and its a 15 minute walk from my house. With my business degree and experience in all kinds of technology I dabble with I'm grotesquely overqualified.
I always think its best to approach problems like its a puzzle to solve. With enough fiddling you can get to the solution, even if its not the ideal one.

>New York State Governor Cuomo said that preliminary findings from an antibody study conducted on 3,000 people at grocery stores across New York State found a 13.9% had coronavirus antibodies, suggesting a 13.9% actual infection rate statewide (21.2% in New York City), which translates to an estimate of about 2,700,000 actual cases in New York State (10 times more than the about 270,000 cases that have been detected and reported officially). Governor Cuomo acknowledged that the official count reported by New York State (which still is not including probable deaths as recommended by the new CDC guidelines) of about 15,500 deaths is "not accurate" as it doesn't account for stay at home deaths. Based on Worldometer's count (which includes probable deaths reported by New York City) of about 21,000 deaths and the 2,700,000 case estimate from the new antibody study, the actual case fatality rate in New York State could be at around 0.78% [source]

People buy what they are familiar with or what the common public perception (skewed via their cultural entertainment consumption no doubt) leads them to believe would be good to stock/a good way to behave.

Rice and pasta and oats are all familiar to sheltered westerners who don't know how to cook and aren't comfortable with things like pulses, dried beans etc. which otherwise make up the staples of many other peoples on this planet. You can bet what they would have bought if they were to panic buy. At the end of the day - who cares? They left a good deal of other perfectly fine and long-lasting staples alone out of culinary fear and ignorance - all the more for those who can use them.

Except I can since the flu estimates are based on decades of real numbers and the estimate for covid is based on a couple months

You're completely missing the fucking point, moron. Even without a fucking estimate covid is already on par with flu. God you are fucking stupid.

No, but nice strawman. Clearly you're not paying attention to anything going on. There's many people who are trying to be heard when a family member dies and were labeled a wuflu death; unfortunately I did not save any screen shots, but relatives are very upset that either 1) their family member isn't even dead and 2) that their family member was already dying from another disease or illness but got labeled a death due to the virus. But hey, gargle the semen fox, cnn, msnbc, all media, bill gates' unload into your mouth like the faggot you are.

Except it's not. It's barely touching the bottom estimate of the flu

Except it is. That is still an estimate for flu. And that is the yearly estimate for flu. For the entire year. With just confirmed covid cases. Confirmed. Not even total estimates. Think about it, nutsack.
