Because if I want to actually address the issues the food industry does to the environment, I would be a self-sustaining farmer on my own land with the rest of the bullshit that goes into it.

Being vegan doesn't suddenly make you better than an omnivorous, average American. Mass-scale farming isn't good for the topsoil, it takes away from the wildlife that already isn't in human captivity. If it isn't affecting the wildlife it's affecting third world, poor ass people. Cashew processing is fucked.
What I don't understand is how vegans have the money to eat how they eat and want to act as if they're providing a "service" to the environment and the planet, when it's healthier and in some ways easier to just have a backyard farm. If I have chickens I'm taking care of, I know exactly where I'm getting my eggs, let alone I know how well my chickens would be taken care for. If I raised a pig and slaughtered it for meat, while to some fags they find it cruel, in my eyes it's more ethical than just giving my money over to the meat industry. If I slaughter my own livestock, not only am I eating *my* money, but I'm able to pay better respects to the animal in general because I took care of it.

I think the vegan diet is very easy to become malnourished on unless you put in a lot of work. I'm basically a vegetarian though, I eat meat once a week and it's normally kangaroo which is a pest anyway so it's good for the environment to kill. Other than that I eat butter, cheese and eggs occasionally. This way I don't have to worry about meme deficiencies like b12.

It's better for everyone in the world to reduce their meat consumption a little than for a few diehard people to be arseholes and scare everyone else away from plant based diets.

Dude. Bro. Braj. I don't think that image was made by/for actual vegans. There isn't enough protein, but it is colorful. It's a picture of the normie's idea of what a vegan eats.

I'm not vegan because I don't like the idea of supplementation, and don't have the most choices regarding diet and food. I acknowledge the hypocrisy of being an ethical vegetarian (not that that is the only reason why I don't eat meat) while also acknowledging that I am doing the best with what I have. Every little bit does help.

Not who you replied to, but it's not that they lack micros, it's more about bioavailability. It is possible to get all of your micros save for b12 (which is supplemented in many meat sources too) from plant-based sources, but it's a matter of making sure you're getting enough of it and that it's available. minimizing tannins via soaking and rinsing beans, not eating broccoli with spinach so as to not impede iron absorbtion, eating more of a source to account for bioavailability; it's a more difficult diet to be nutritionally complete with, but that doesn't mean that it isn't possible to do it, and that people don't do it.

I've also come across emerging studies that suggest that the body adapts to deficiencies in a vegan diet so has different nutritional needs, which is what I have seen claimed in the carnivore diet also (what little research I have done into that).

I think it's also worth noting that we aren't required to meet 100% of our micros every day and historically we haven't done that as a species, but of course we should always be aware of dietary trends to minimize the chance of nutritional deficiencies.

I don’t see any need to limit my choices in life. I will eat vegetarian and vegan meals on occasion but I also enjoy meat and dairy, so I won’t be giving them up.

I’ve tried meat alternatives and, while some are tasty if prepared right, they just don’t taste like meat to me. I’ve even been served these alternatives without knowing what they were and in every instance I immediately knew it wasn’t meat. I actually prefer the alternatives that don’t even bother with the pretense of mimicking meat, like good old fashioned tofu and seitan. Tempeh isn’t bad but it upsets my stomach every time.

Dairy alternative on the other hand are tragic! Non-dairy cheese is simply pathetic, it simply cannot compare to the vast world of cheeses around the world. I feel like you’d have to hate cheese to enjoy non-dairy cheese, it just doesn’t even come close. Certain milks like cashew and oat are okay but they just don’t provide that lovely bounce to coffee or cereal. Soy and almond are terrible.

I’ve long since believed that everything is good in moderation. I enjoy seeking out new and diverse culinary treats and a vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, etc diet would be limiting. No thanks, fine for others but I’ve made my choice. I respect your choices, please respect mine.

man that's a weird study. The theory is that grazing land not suitable for crops gives an advantage to raising grazing animals for the vegetarian diets. But it only sources what is currently used for crops and what is currently used for grazing, and doesnt actually establish its assumption that land used for animals isnt suitable for crops. It even specifies perennial land, that is suitable for crops but is used for animal foraging, but is still subtracted from the vegan diets available land use.

>Cropland in perennial forages included hay crops and grazing on land "which could be cropped" but is used for pasture.

>The ovolacto- and lacto-vegetarian diets used about half of the cropland restricted to perennial forages, while the vegan diet used none of the restricted cropland.

It only works if everybody buys into. If you’re doing this for environmental reasons, that’s okay but not the too convincing like >>13960643 said. Animal husbandry isn’t inherently harmful to the environment and desu im glad vegans exists because it puts a load off from the meat industry. I wish there were more and more vegans so that cheap factory meat can decrease and organically grown, free range meat becomes more common place than it already is. I have zero issue paying a premium for meat or reducing my intake.
However, if you’re doing it for “moral reasons” you’re spooked, anon. That’s all I can say. Animals and Nature will never extend the same courtesy to you, voiding the whole purpose of moral actions. You have to believe either explicitly or implicitly in something metaphysical like the soul, karma or “the form of the good” in order to really get any kind of reward from such actions. I agree that militant extreme vegans who usually have other underlying mental health issues take on a very misanthropic, black and white view of the world. But that's most extremists. Fortunately, veganism does have some semblance of a grey area in it's followers. 80% of people who try the diet don't hold the label after 10 years. And there are a few people who abstain from animal products who are aware that what they are doing is a personal choice and there are better ways to improve the quality of life of our livestock and wildlife for the people who can't live that kind of lifestyle for whatever reason.

Many vegans I engage with ALWAYS talk about our horrible hellscape factory farms, but they very seldom talk about other ways to not support those farms. You CAN buy animals that were not raised in confinement, or in farrowing crates, or pumped full of antibiotics and hormones and feed additives and gmo grains. You can support heritage breeds of livestock, which are overall superior in quality and many heritage breeds of animals are actually endangered.

I invite all vegans to ask questions without immediate answers. How SHOULD our domestic animal allies be raised?

Easy. It would be a betrayal of all of our ancestors will to overcome whatever the fuck opposed them in the world. We can eat all meat because we've conquered all creatures.

The problem is not the sickly vegans duh. They are their own problem. The problem is that vegan agenda trolls run the entire "health and diet" infrastructure of the country.

I don't care if vegans want to starve themselves and die. I do care if vegans use power and the law to force me into (((their))) starvation cult.

going vegan isn't the obvious answer. You can be a vegan and easily contribute to just as much suffering as a meat eater.

Maybe you are the one doing somersaults trying to justify that veganism is an obvious answer. And an answer to what? Animal suffering? Animal exploitation? Environmental destruction? Is it really though?

>Many vegans I engage with ALWAYS talk about our horrible hellscape factory farms, but they very seldom talk about other ways to not support those farms.

Because vegans don't give a single fuck whatsoever, they just want meat banned. "Factory farm abuse" is just their go-to emotional propaganda hook, it's effective. Vegans don't actually give a fuck neither way.

>√ou CAN buy animals that were not raised in confinement, or in farrowing crates, or pumped full of antibiotics and hormones and feed additives and gmo grains. You can support heritage breeds of livestock, which are overall superior in quality and many heritage breeds of animals are actually endangered.

Vegans give absolute 0.00000 fucks about this. Vegans themselves gas , shoot, and plow up billions of animals in their pea-protein fields. Zero fucks given, by them.

>I invite all vegans to ask questions without immediate answers. How SHOULD our domestic animal allies be raised?

Vegans answer is- humanely, not for food, sterilized and gone from the planet. Veganism is a satanic cult for radical leftists, none of whom are looking for any sensible answers.

Once I went to a vegan fair for 4 days (I work as a salesperson at a vegan cosmetic company). Most of the time I was doing pretty good because it was located inside an university and its cafe had all kinds of cheap/tasty meals and snacks for sale. The last day was a Sunday, and my beloved cafe was closed, so the only options were the vegan meals/snack available at the fair.
Besides being bland and expensive, they just didn't make me feel full at all, I felt hungry all day long even though I was eating every 2 hours. I'm just glad I didnt pay for them...

I wasn't raised a single mother.

Vegan males are predominantly fatherless, looking for honour values and meaning they were denied as a boy. Very sad. The statistics on this are... staggering.

And that’s unavoidable for the most part. Raising and killing animals specifically to eat them is easily avoidable.

I’m so tired of this take, every omnivore acting like vegans are the only people consuming vegetables and grains so y’all can start yammering about field mice and think you have any sort of high ground.

Anyways, blow me. It happens, and it would be better if no animal was harmed period - but bringing that up like it’s breaking news is almost as stupid as eating animals in the first place.
