I regularly buy the Banquet tv dinners, usually the turkey one and occasionally the BBQ pork meal and I would get their salisbury steak and meatloaf dinners but they insist on putting the mashed potatoes in the same compartment as the meat and gravy, (using the third compartment for an applesauce desert I don’t want) which results in it turning into a soup.

Alright lads, I'm back with a review of the Banquet Chicken Fried Chicken meals.

Had I read the reviews on Banquet's very own website, I might never have purchased the product. https://www.banquet.com/classic-dinners/chicken-fried-chicken-meal . The average Banquet customer gives this product a mere two stars. As my dinners sat in the oven, I began to ponder whether I had made a ghastly mistake purchasing 5 of them.

After removing my Banquets from the oven and giving them a chance to cool, I dug in. The chicken was extremely mushy, making it easy to chew. I devoured each slab of chicken in a few bites. The gravy was nice and salty, with a strong salty aftertaste. It was nice to have a TV dinner that was already properly seasoned and to not need to add extra salt or seasoning. After consuming the chicken, there was still a fair amount of leftover gravy. I moved the corn and mashed potatoes into the leftover gravy and ate them. Banquet should consider putting some of the gravy from the chicken compartment into the corn and potato compartments instead.

At 330 calories, these are definitely not filling enough for the average person. I would recommend Banquet come out with some larger sizes, so that these can satiate a normal appetite and provide adequate nutrition. Perhaps the larger size could also include a dessert.

The first thing I noticed looking at the dinner was that the beef patties were a lot smaller in real life than they appeared to be on the box and that there were an awful lot of vegetables.

I took a look at the back of the back of the box to see what nutrients my Hungry-Man dinner would deliver. I was alarmed to see that the meal contained a mere 450 calories. Based on the FDA recommended 2000 calories a day, this meal contained a mere 22.5% of the calories needed to sustain an individual. The meal appeared relatively healthy with lots of fiber and a good dose of Vitamin A.

After leaving my meal in the oven for 55 minutes (I forgot to take it out after the recommended 45 minute cooking time) I removed the film and let it cool for a bit. Once the meal reached an edible temperature, I dug in. I speared one of the beef patties and stuffed it whole into my mouth. The beef had a nice texture and just the right amount of chewiness. I crammed the next patty into my mouth, and having finished the beef patties I moved on to the mashed potatoes. The potatoes were nice and salty with a strong salty aftertaste. As a man who even salts ham, I can appreciate that. Finally, it came time to eat the worst part of the meal: the vegetables. I used my fork to push them over into the leftover gravy and ate them quickly. The vegetables were made edible by the gravy, I am surprised more veggies aren't served this way.

Overall I give the Hungry-Man grilled beef patty meal a B+. My recommendations to improve it would be to remove the vegetables and add 3 or 4 more beef patties. This would make the meal tastier and more filling.

I looked it up and apparently it's a thing. I never heard of this rule before.

So depending on interpretation, you're not allowed to have meat with any sort of sauce with milk/dairy in it, even on the side - like mashed potatoes that had milk in it - with your chicken or steak. That's kind of a bummer.
