Newfag here, what are some good recipes for a beginner? I haven't cooked a proper meal in a year or 2 and would like to surprise my Wife with something nice

osso bucco is suprisingly easy.

sear 1 beef shank per person in a large closable pan. set aside for later. dice onions, carrots, garlic and cellery for 9 minutes till everything is nice and toasty and a fond has started to build up at the bottom of the pan. deglase with a bit of white wine. add a can of tomatos and stirr. mix in provence herbs and add one or two bay leaves. Put the beef shanks back into the pan, put a lid on it and let it simmer for atleast 45 minutes. atlast add salt and pepper to taste and serve while warm. if you let it simmer for more and let it reduce, the meat is really soft and is perfect as a pasta sauce (tho take the bone out.).
