I mean, yes. Pretty much true. Townsends is a historical reenactment business first, they've just had a lot of success by introducing people to 18th century cooking; it's something people find easy to relate to and it's interesting to see how diets have or haven't changed over time.

But the recipe is also dead easy and you could whip this up on a stovetop no problem. It's not like you have to build your own log cabin just to make this specific potato dish.
