The restaurant i work at has live music... Its one guy playing a guitar(poorly) while doing covers(poorly) of other established bands music. Its also played too loudly on a very cheap speakers. Other, the restaurant is kind of nice, so i honestly dont know why the fuck the manager and owner do this. I have heard plenty of people say they wont dine there in the evening because of the "live music".
I'm lucky that i can barely hear it on the hot side of the kitchen, but i am literally like >>13758925 as i'm walking out the door, hearing just how fucking awful it is.

There are very few bars in my city that don't serve food and very few sit-down restaurants that don't have bars. Sometimes the bars have more limited food options and sometimes the restaurants' drink selections are lacking, but they almost always serve both things.

Many bars in the US are more like what you might call a pub.

There are lots of bars that only serve alcohol too.

There isn't a real distinction in language between the two in colloquial use in the US, but some people might be really nit-picky and call pub style bars gastropubs or something.

Just about every sit-down restaurant in America has a bar.
Then there's what we call pubs, which have full food menus and full drink lists, and are much more casual than a restaurant.
Then there's bars, which may or may not serve food. If they do, it's usually a very limited menu and not very good. I personally don't order food here, since I've been in tons of kitchens, and I've concluded that bartenders don't know how to keep a kitchen clean.

In my state bars are required by law to also serve food. I tend to not go to a bar because the food normally isn't that great, but there are some bars in bigger towns that actually have some pretty good food.
