What does Beyond Chicken or Meat or other derivatives tastes like?

>> No.13745337

meat

>> No.13745362

>>13745327
Tried the burgers before, tasted pretty close to a normal beef burger. But the artificial smoke flavor is a bit over powering and the smell sticks to your hands regardless of washing them. Also they're not really any healthier, bunch of processed shit and just as many calories and saturated fats as a real burger. So if you're not vegan, maybe try it but definitely wouldn't keep eating them.

I've had their burgers and sausage and I've gotta say I wouldn't know it was fake if you didnt tell me.

You can't refrigerate and reheat them though, they get all rubbery and gross.

No. It's hard to tell if you make a burger and add a lot of topping because it gets mixed in with everything else, but if you taste it on its own you can tell it's not real meat pretty quickly. That doesn't necessarily mean it's bad though. I eat real beef burgers once in a while but I like veggie burgers too just for something different. But I don't really consider it a meat replacement.

I tried the beyond burger it was gross. It definitely looked like beef, but you can also tell it's an imitation. And the taste isn't quite there yet. I've heard that the impossible burger is better and imitate beef more closely, but I couldn't try since it's banned in the EU.

>> No.13747118

It tastes as if it was designed by people who tried to stick to the technical description of what is a piece of meat without understanding why people like eating meat. The blood effect is absolutely disgusting and unconvincing. I would rather have a product that focuses on imitating the texture of cooked and well grilled meat, even if it's not red and not bleeding.

>> No.13747121

I bought an impossible whopper a few weeks ago to at least try it before I decided I hated it. It tasted like what a burger would taste like if the person designing it hadn't eaten a burger in like 20 years, which is probably the case honestly. It was not good and had a very foul smell when I unwrapped it.
I ate three bites and threw it away. I have tits now.

>> No.13747130

I tried the Beyond Burguer and the Impossible one and honestly tastes exactly like meat. The tryhards in this thread probably couldn't pick it up in a blind taste test btw

>> No.13747146

>>13747130
Honestly I'm sad for you if you can't taste the difference, at least for the beyond burger, which is the only one I tried. I would recognize it in a blind taste 100% of the time. You have to be only eating sauce covered fast food burgers to think that this shit is even close to a regular ground beef patty.
I'm not spitting on the idea tho, I'm convinced they'll do a better job in future iterations, and I'll be ready to try a better version, but it's not there yet if they want to compete with the real thing.

>> No.13747151

It tasted like fake meat the way diet soda tastes like fake soda. For me the worst part was the texture. It was like eating a raw hamburger patty. I had frequent and violent poopies for about 36 hours after trying a beyond meat burger.

>> No.13747179

Fully hydrogenated vegetable oil is a saturated fat.

>> No.13747183

If you get it served somewhere nice, it's like eating a really good imitation of beef, especially in something like a burger where there are other tastes to crowd out the meat taste. But a lot of places just keep them in fridge and reheat them, and thus they taste like ass when you get them.

>> No.13747251

haven't had it yet, but just get a veggie burger ffs, don't bother with this frankenmeat. veggie patties aren't bad, i've had quite a few and the only bad thing i can say about one of them (it was cauliflower i think) was that it was too soft so when you squeezed the burgah it gets mushed and starts going out the sides

>> No.13747349

It hits the right notes.

I'm vegan but I actually loved meat, like I went out of my way to get exotic types of meat and organ meat and such.

Being able to wrap a Beyond Sausage in Beyond Beef, then wrap that in some faky bacon and deep-fry it, have it with a bucket of mayo and Stubbs bbq sauce? That's all I really want.

The only other thing I'm waiting for is a good liver substitute. Want braunschweiger.

I haven't tried Impossible but Beyond Meat was pretty terrible.
The best I could say it was closest in flavour to real meat, compared to other meat-alternatives.
Still nowhere near actual meat.
On top of that the smell, texture, and appearance are still far off. And they dry out quickly as they cool off, turning into hockey pucks. So you'd better cook only what you're actually going to eat immediately.

This explains why obese white whales love processed junk food so much. They even managed to turn "vegan" healthy foods into high fat, high sodium, overprocessed garbage.

I've had beyond meat burger and sausages
Burger is good but literal hockey puck shaped making it annoying if you like a patty that fits in a run-of-the-mill burger bun imo
Sausages were weird. Granted, I think they were "undercooked" having been made in a shitty plug-in cooking pan. Had that highly processed raw meat texture but tasted ok.
Both were quite "meaty" in relation to other vegetarian/vegan meat alternatives I've tried
Nothing beats Amy's meatless veggie sausage in being a successful vegetarian simulation of a breakfast link, however, imo

Impossible burgers taste like salty overseasoned cardboard that vaguely feels like meat. It's hard to tell the difference when fast food beef patties also taste like cardboard.

>> No.13748275

Besides tasting almost entirely unlike proper beef, Beyond Burger has an aftertaste of plasticine. It is thoroughly unpleasant.
My brother, his wife and all the other people who spout on and on about how it tastes 'just like meat!' haven't had meat in so long that they've forgotten what meat actually tastes like.

>>13745362

And which brand was that? It certainly wasn't Beyond. Well, the breakfast sausage does taste fairly similar to meat, to be fair. Turkey, specifically. As we all know, turkey is an absolute travesty as a breakfast sausage but at least the Beyond Sausage tastes like actual meat. The texture, however, isn't great.

>>13747089
I found the Impossible Whopper to be impossibly salty. To Beyond's credit, the texture is closer to an actual beef burger than was the Impossible, but neither is very good.
>banned in EU

The texture is also slightly off, too.
Also, it's not more healthy than beef burgers, it's a vegan substitute.
So don't start eating 3 of them a day, thinking you cheat the system.
