This stuff is unironically better than any "artisanal" loaf I've ever gotten from a bakery.

If we're both fine with our opinions then that's honestly fantastic. It's how things should be. I hope you enjoy your canned bread and I will continue enjoying otherwise.

Serious note - why is it good, then? Convince me. I've not bought into it, but if I should, why?

It's basically pumpernickel only sweeter (on account of the molasses) and not quite as bitter. The canning process also means it's really moist. It's not sweet enough to be a desert bread or something but it's close. It also goes great with baked beans. B&M brown bread and baked beans is a New England staple at outdoor events.

That's interesting. I guess I'll try it just to see. I'm a britbong so brown bread with beans is already fine to me, I've just not tried canned because it has a bit of a stigma. If I see it around I'll give it a go.

No. I love food. That's why I'm here. I've frequently asked about American food because so far I've enjoyed it. Canned bread to me seemed like a shit joke. But if it has a serious recipe, lemme know, man. That's all I'm asking for.

It's a New England thing and it's mostly a novelty unless you live deep in the Maine backwoods or something. It's a really moist rye bread with molasses. It's traditionally cooked in an old coffee can in a hot water bath. It's only natural that someone would make an industrially canned version.
