Borscht makes me feel better than other soups do. Beets make a man feel alive, and if you chunk up some cheap steak with all the colored vegetables in there, it really gets you going. Tastes great, too.

I have a recipe that's simple that I like a lot. It came from my German grandmother, called Koenig souppe. I'm also not a good cook or anything like that, so this might be garbage to the more discerning.

2T. butter
2T flour
4c broth (chkn)
4 chkn bouillon cubes
asparagus tips
slivered almonds
1 egg yolk
1 c heavy cream

Saute butter and flour, and add broth. Simmer slowly - add almonds and asparagus tips, mix egg yolk and heavy cream in blender. Stir this in, but do not boil.
