So, /ck/
I have some leftover chili I wanna reheat
What side is superior? Rice or Toast?
I usually eat it with toast, but I wanna try it with rice
Is it worth the time cooking rice or nah?

>>13570980

>have gramma from oldworld

Beef stew? White rice.
Clam chowder? White rice.
Pasta salad? White rice.
Fucking cheeseburgers? White rice.
Chili with white rice, though, never seemed that weird to me. I didn't even know people would eat chili with anything else but rice. The first time I saw people eat chili with cornbread, tortillas, crackers, toast or, worst of all, pasta, I thought it was fucking bizarre. Probably about as odd as they'd think it is were they to see my dad eating barbecue ribs with white rice.

Why not a baked potato?

its just an additional filler, also changes the way you eat the chili and sometimes gives you a nice contrast in flavour or texture

For leftover chili, forget the toast, wtf.

On top of a baked potato, a hot dog, a bowl of rice, or on top of nachos. You could put on top of pasta if you're into that (I'm not).

thats all nice ideas actually, but i only have the rice on hand, so thats it

also desu i have started soaking the rice basically right after making the thread since i figured i might as well try it out

Couscous is easier. Rice is a pain in the ass without a rice cooker and only asians bother to have one unless they're literally poor as dirt

Really? I'm >>13571115
We never had a rice cooker growing up. We just boiled it like pasta until it was almost, but not quite, cooked through then drain, rinse, shake dry-ish then finish it back in the pot in its own steam. Then you eat your rice and the family argues who gets to eat the burnt bits at the bottom of the pot.
I started using a rice cooker at university. With all the washing necessary first, it's about the same amount of work both ways.
Less the burnt bits because rice cookers can't do that, the results are about identical, 2bh.

I like to serve the rice to the side of the chili in my bowl, think of it like a topping with each bite, rather than rice filled chili soup. Cheese enhances it, or some texture from something like tortilla strips.

chilli on a slice a toast w/ melted cheese (pepperjack is a good choice) is pretty tits. a squirt of sour cream and green yucateca don't hurt either, but I can do that with everything and be happy.

Nigga just boil it in a 2:1 water:rice ratio until the water is gone. It's easier than pasta since you don't even need to drain.

Love some nice bread with stewed and braised dishes but I always end up having too much and exceeding my calorie allotment.
So it's more often rice or potatoes for me. With the rice I will throw some green beans in when it's done cooking as well, and sometimes whole or halved rawit chilies.
