Sometimes it's useful to use the knife and fork in tandem.

I use my fork with my right hand.
If I'm using a knife+fork I use my fork in my left hand.

Any ambidextrous anons who can weigh in here? I played drums for 10+ years so while not that level of dexterous i can do basic tasks like feeding myself with my left hand. Sometimes I cut with my left hand too just to keep the fork in the right hand.
