i really agree though, who in their right mind would buy chocolate if you could eat strawberries instead? chocolate makes the body more full yes but it's also disgusting in the way it feels.
Strawberries feel fantastic after you've eaten them. Yet 250g strawberries cost like 3 euros at least and they are less filling than a 60 cent chocolate bar.

Not everyone loves in a food desert. Besides, berries are expensive. A real poor person would buy apples, oranges, and bananas. Apples are usually less than $2/lb. Oranges were under $1/lb. last time I saw them, and bananas are 59 cents/lb.

Poor people are bad at cooking. My mom works at the welfare office and they all rely on junk food, premade food, and fast food. Nobody cooks or eats fresh produce. The average welfare recipient probably couldn't boil a pot of beans.

>buying berries when they're not on sale

Gonna have a bad time. My Kroger's is selling blackberries for 99 cents right now. They're usually 5 or 6 bucks for a half an 8 oz container. Same with all the other berries. If you want cheap fruit you're usually getting apples, oranges, pears, bananas, kiwi, grapefruit. Everything else I wait to be on sale. Usually at least one type of berry or grape are on sale every week. And sometimes you get more exotic stuff like blood oranges or peaches or whatever.

I work in a produce department in a low income neighbourhood and people will still pay a million percent markup on precut watermelon and pineapple and shit because they are just that lazy. Healthy shit isn't expensive. But convenient healthy shit is and everyone is a lazy fuck.

That's probably me. I make $120k a year but I shop at a store and everyone in line is using EBT. The cashiers will be all yukking it up with the EBT people being friendly and making jokes and then they see what I'm unloading on the conveyer belt and their face turns to stone and they go full robot mode. I guess paying $3.99 each for small unflavored goat milk yogurts seems wasteful but whatever. I don't like the gross flavored CAFO trash, sue me.

saving dick $ on each purchase of food is not the reason people are poor, stagnated wages and high rental fees are the sole reason for poverty. this absolute meme about saving a few hundred a month with "smart purchases" is fucking laughable. like ohhhhh I saved $1000 whole dollars this year, maybe in 30 years ill be able to put a down payment on a car.

Yeah also this. Every so often I'll LARP as a poor and buy poor people shit for a week and when it's over I feel sad and I spent a ton of time soaking beans and rice and for all that trouble I saved, what. Like, enough for a 12 oz bag of single origin coffee? Imagine living on that and having to pay for a health problem. That isn't even enough to cover the copay on my last doctor visit.

>>13507555
The point was that poor people are fat because they are lazy and careless. They don't mind paying out the ass for premade fruit bowls and mcburgers. Eating healthy isn't expensive. I find it frustrating as a poor person when other poor people tell me the reason their home is disgusting or they are fat as shit or whatever is because of poverty. It's an excuse.
