Adulterants like milk and cream are there to cover up improper preparation and shipping. You shouldn't put stuff in the tea.

Have yous seen how British people make tea? It's terrible. They oversteep it and then have to pour in milk and sugar so the brew doesn't taste like tannic acid exclusively.

some times a combination of flavors and/or textures can be greater than the sum of its parts. To say no one should ever enjoy a tea or coffee with cream or sugar is just dumb and elitist. British and Indian tea has milk, sugar if you fancy.

It's polite in Britain to ask your house guests if they want milk and sugar in their tea, but the expectation is 100% they get milk, if they say no they get sent to the tower of London, sugar wise I personally prefer without, but it's acceptable if you do like it with.

Green teas don't have milk.

He died before they got him back and were told not to tell anyone because the americans would demand an inquest to prove it wasn't their fault, which would mean they'd all have to stick around for months when they were supposed to go home in a week

I remember reading some british guy's rant about the "proper way" to make tea, and it was exactly that: water too hot, steep for too long, then argue about whether to add the milk and sugar to the cup before or after the tea.

Not really as most teas are drunk with or without milk as a matter of course. Black teas will typically have milk in them, green and white don't. There's some that go this way or that like Earl Grey, whatever.

Now EVERYTHING ELSE is a fucking autistic argument. How long do you brew the tea, how much tea do you use, how much milk, do you add sugar? Do you have milk before or after pouring the tea? Etc, etc. It also doesn't help that really most people in tea drinking countries don't actually treat tea all that well. The autistic coffee revolution that swept the world hasn't quite got to tea yet. I'm the only one I know who uses loose leaf for example.

>> No.13483160

A five minute brew on boiling water with my preferred blends makes a sweet, fruity drink with a dash of milk to add an extra layer of complexity. Also people across Asia put milk, spices, sweetneers and more into tea. The Brits learnt to put milk in tea from Asia.

Yeah, you're right that good black tea has a lot of complexity. Bitterness isn't inherently bad, although bad processing of tea (grinding it to dust, breaking leaves excessively) does create bitterness where it might not be desired.
