Ok tripps... unlike a lot of fad diets there is science to back it up. The problem is its easy to do wrong and if done by idots that think they can have bacon with everything they fuck up their cholesterol and health in the long run. One big mistake is eating too much protein as well as fat, which can make your body eat at muscles. Its basically like Atkins or juice diet. There is a huge difference between eating fruit and whole grains compared to refined sugar and white flour though. That's because you're supposed to eat green, leafy vegetables on keto. The goal is not to have 0 carbs, the goal is to have 20-50g of carbs per day depending on activity level, not counting indigestible fiber, so green leafy vegetables are great for keto because they're incredibly low in non-fiber carbs and have tons of vitamins and minerals. Low-carb berries/fruits like blueberries and blackberries and avocados are also fine in limited amounts. Keto is just IIFYM but the carb macro is set to 20-50g. It's not that meme shit like drinking olive oil and eating pounds of bacon for every meal. You should actually look into what keto is before going around criticizing it and comparing it to veganism.

I guess. Seems like there are plenty of things pointing to use benefiting from carbs though. Our brains like to use carbs as fuel and cooking helped with that as much as it did with meat consumption. People never really had an issue with carbs until modern times when cheap processed carbs are everywhere and most people are overeating. I don't think anyone is arguing that CICO doesn't work, I think it's more about the effect that keto has on you. The best part about keto and main draw for me is that it just totally quells cravings. I eat when I'm hungry, and I stop when I'm full. I do this in combination with a 1500 calorie diet. Basically, keto just makes it a million times easier to happily maintain the diet. For me, the caloric deficit is the main vehicle of weight loss, while keto is a supplement to it. Had huge success and it would have been a lot harder without keto.

Fat without carbs is really hard for your body to turn into stored fat because your insulin is low. So your body tries to make you use that energy instead of storing it.
