Tell me about the general perception of the golden arches in your country.
Is it for example true that McDonalds is seen as poor people's food in the USA? Here in Germany it is on the same level as Burger King I would say. Not for poor people per se (that would be Döner or Curry Wurst) but of course it's also not seen as a real restaurant.

UK. I'm guessing the perception here is basically the same as it is everywhere else - that is, it's seen as the 'default' fast food (thanks to how many there are and how constant their advertising campaigns are). Most people - except for stoners and teenagers - won't eat it more than once every few weeks, and it's sort of universally agreed that McDonalds tastes OK but that almost any other kind of fast food is better.

England here. It's for low to medium income families, and chavs, who may or may not have a lot of illicit gains. Everyone hates it bar the chavs and kids. Their coffee is good though.

It's seen a safely clean, free and easy way for a tourist to use the restroom while out walking in a tourist district. This is primarily why tourists go there. A single dollar menu item, quick soda with filtered water ice cubes, and you get a customers-only visit to the bathroom that is western style normal.

McDonald's in canada is pretty classy
has fancy coffees and the interiors are renovated with granite tiles and shit
supposedly America has way less on the menu which surprises me

McDonald’s is seen as a status symbol, a little below Starbucks but up there, it’s seen as if you can afford to eat there often “you’ve made it” in life, it’s seen as modern and clean place where everyone wants to go. It is also seen by others as everything that is wrong with our country, demonized by being American, by being capitalist, by offering “bad food”. So it depends on who you ask, it may be generational. I will tell you it’s expensive as fuck, nearly double the American prices, all the while making less money in wages here than in the US, a sundae costs 1,60 euro a Big Mac menu 6 euros.

The first McDonald’s opened in 1990, this is the result of a closed economy till about 1976, so anything modern and new is seen as a novelty and a good thing regardless of merit, so there is still a shellac of good aura over the golden arches.

As an American, I've been eaten McDonald's dollar menu burgers for lunch because they are so cheap and I'm so poor. I'm being squeezed on all sides by capitalism and that sweet, salty, hunk of a burger just gets my dick hard.my hearts started hurting lately but I can't afford health insurance

Everyone who has read a book or two in life knows there is a clear correlation between level of education, obesity, and fast food consumption.
The only ones not aware of this are, well, the uneducated low class people.
This is here in Germany. Hell fucking yeah I think I'm too good to eat there and so should you because it is literal cancer garbage!
And what op said is a lie, Döner and Currywurst are totally fine and always preferable to fast food chains, if you have to eat on the run/drunk etc

Canada here (Quebec) and it's not exactly seen as poor people's food. It's mostly seen as like the "oh we're in a new part of the city we've never been in before or in a new town driving down the highway it's lunchtime and we don't know what's good around here oh look there's a McDonalds" option. basically what >>13465091 said

It's mostly for kids/soccer moms, you've got high school stoners and also like 86 year olds that hang out there but it's really not a poor people thing considering how it's an extremely poor value for your money. Unless you get those coupons in the mail a few times a year or you're gonna jew up their dollar menu options, just getting a regular trio like a big mac or whatever it's really not that great. You get a weak-ass burger a tiny thing of fries and then just a giant ass thing of soda to give you the illusion that you've filled up and ate enough. In terms of portions and quality you're better of anywhere else.

Also as good as their fries are, and they are good they are the only thing I really care for in their main menu, they are the worst kind of friend possible for poutine and McDonalds cannot make a poutine to save their lives

>>13465294
Oh yeah that too, we have a few McDs around here and they're quite old they've been around for generations and it's intresting how a couple of decades ago the interiors and even outsides all looked like basically playgrounds with more play areas and then Ronald and Hamburgler statues all over the place and since then a lot of them tried to rebrand as Le McCafe trying to compete with starbucks or something where university kids can hang out while studying but no one's getting studying done with kids running around and screaming and a random black guy practising his beatboxing skills while waiting in line and all the other nonsense that happens inside a McDs

I was thinking in terms of restaurants, but yes, convenience store food is definitely considered more poverty tier than fast food.
The only other things that are worse are dumpsters and maybe some really shitty restaurants that exist some places but really most family-owned restaurants are always considered above fast food

>> No.13467117

>>13467048
>most family-owned restaurants are always considered above fast food
That is a mistake. I lived in poverty in the USA and worked in distribution, family owned restaurants and really all restaurants that you will pay up to 30 bucks a head, all will sell you the same exact frozen food from the same suppliers. I suggest people get off their high horses, even high dollar restaurant uses Sysco or some other supplier that supplies the Dairy Queen across the street.

>> No.13468164

>>13467117
I wasn’t saying that family-owned restaurants actually were better, just that most people view them as better. It’s pretty obvious that there’s many restaurants that are essentially rip-offs, but still frozen ingredients are a lot better than pre-made frozen food.
