The trick is to start with the bird breast down, then flip it after it's two thirds cooked. Will amaze everyone.

>> No.13413746

I deep fry the turkey. Post the >Do Americans really? I don’t give a fuck, deep frying is by far the best way. Just make sure it’s completely thawed out and have a fire extinguisher ready just in case. If you do it properly, the bird is never dry.

Turkey's only good when it's the sliced deli kind. The turkey people make for Thanksgiving and Christmas are 100% of the time bad, although everyone claims it's everyone else who's cooking it wrong and that their turkey is great. At some point you gotta drop the "didn't cook it right" excuse and just accept that fundamentally some ways of making food simply are not good.

Ground is good too, turkey chili can be pretty good if made right, it's more or less the same as regular chili but can be dryer than if using beef so add a bit more oil and make sure it doesn't dry out.

It's great with bacon as well, like a good ol turkey w/bacon sandwich on rye.

I whacked a load of butter over it, tin foil over the top and stuck it in the oven. It was 8.4kg, so going by most guidelines should have needed about 4.5 hours at least. I should have trusted my instincts when I took it out after 3, tested it with me meat thermometer, and the temperature was well above what was needed anyway. That last hour I put it back in for fucked it a bit. Oh well, chucked a load of gravy over it and it wasn't that bad.

So basically, you don’t understand larding, basting and covered baking dishes or alfoil.
In other words, you’re a shit cook blaming his own ingredients, not just skills. Maybe you should stick to one of those Christmas dinners in a can.
