Really he's just babby's first cooking channel/show.

The reason people don't like him is mostly his personality. his early stuff was good, where he does his best to recreate dishes from tv/movies. Overall he's not a bad cook, teaches good stuff, has a good set, but he's a little full of himself and his VO is annoying. Acts like his opinions are ironclad rules, etc. He's got just a touch of the smug ego that made Tony Bourdain charming in person (off-camera) but annoying on TV and VO, but Babish doesn't have the skill, likability, nor flexibility to back it up.

He's not bad, he's a perfectly good learning tool, and my favorite way to introduce phillistines to cooking in an easy-to-stomach way.

He speaks from an air of authority without the actual pedigree, nor a hack's knowledge. I don't care how he obtained his so-called knowledge, but in the absence of a real pedigree, you don't speak like you know something in this manner. Actual intelligent people are offended and will not watch. This is clearly has a desire to be rich and famous and less a desire share something passionately that he's somewhat good at doing. It's a produced show, much as early Alton was a production project each episode (he was a camera guy who got an education grant from public broadcasting). Bourdain really started his life as the child of intellectuals who got a formal education before the CIA. The cooking gig was a byproduct of a summer job. I'm sure he realized that within a kitchen, you have no other peers when all your staff are beneath your intellect on the level that excites your brain, so he wrote. Babish's style could eventually work out as a career for the long term, most of the reason is that the boomers, hipsters, and others are utter idiots who live lives watching videos and soundbytes only. If you compare one youtube star to another, you're already in a pool of crap. If he keeps on learning he might do some more fame, but I think he's below average intellect. The more informed and skilled audience won't ever happen.
