Do you ever steal from self checkouts at grocery stores?
My local supermarket never has employees looking at the machines so sometimes I forget to scan items and only end up paying for the instant ramen

TIP TO ANYONE THAT SKIMS ITEMS IN SELF CHECKOUT:
They know. The cameras overseeing the scanners can see what you did and didn't fully scan.
They are waiting for you to steal a certain amount before they catch you so that they can push a bigger charge on you.

What I don't understand about retail stores is the big expensive beeper checkpoint exit scanners. Everyone believes that the scanners go off if you don't scan the barcode but I work in retail and you can pull a whole pallette full of unscanned items through the checkpoints and they don't go off. The only things that go off is makeup, clothing with security tags, toys that have security tags stuck on them (you can visually see if they have them), and spider wraps that go over TVs. That's about it. Any other cosmetic stuff usually has a security tag in the box but that's rare. Have only ever seen it in Nair wax strips.

>>13213094
The quality of those cameras are always horrendous. You need an exact time, date, description and then you need to send it to the police for investigation. The big retail stores will never care if you repeat steal small items. But if its organised robbery of numerous items over and over again then yeah. You'll likely get caught.
I also once caught a woman trying to steal a suitcase of neck pillows, which was about $150 worth. She just looked at me and went "fuck" so I took them out and kept scanning the rest of the items. Excluding the neck pillows. I told the manager what happened and he gave me a $30 gift card but he never asked me about her appearance or anything, just what happened.
You also aren't allowed to accuse someone of stealing and you aren't allowed to chase them in or out of the store. You are better off letting them go then risking the store being sued.

Then again I guarantee Australia is a lot different to America

Can someone explain the Stirner meme? I don't go to /lit/ and never read Stirner. I had a bunch of his stuff as "recommended reading" in an extensive Marx class I took in grad school, so I know he's a big figure between Hegel and Marx, but that was around the time my alcoholism started kicking in so never got around to it. I never see any Kant, Nietzsche, or Wittgenstein memes, but if they existed I'd be able to explain them in depth.

>> No.13214066

>>13213907
Tl;dr the basis of the memes centered around stirner is based on his book the ego and it's own, which basically advocates for self autonomy or self anarchy, and being the master of yourself, and pretty much doing whatever the fuck you want without any restrictions based on religion or ideologies or ethics. Hence the joke in the op of the dude disregarding social norms and ethics by filling up a kfc bucket with soda.
This is a very basic explanation from someone who only really loosely knows much about stirner, but that's pretty much the joke

Just want everyone to be aware that we KNOW whose stealing and we're going to call you dumb fucks out and get you arrested any time you try to steal shit.

I can see you dumb fucks a mile away, you come into the store with your nervous unwashed face and don't make eye contact. You fidget when waiting for your turn to use a checkout machine, you pretend to be on your phone when I can see you're not texting anybody.

We record EVERYTHING.
if you try to 'stash' anything and still pay by card then we even have your name and address and other personal information.

I've personally followed dozens of people to their cars and embarrassed them in front of the entire parking lot, I WILL follow you home if you try to run from me.

My job is to find you thieving fucks and ruin your day, and I get so much joy and pleasure from it I just about don't even need to be payed to do it.

And for all of you law-abiding citizens, you're welcome, I keep the store safe while the criminal elements are kept at bay.

You fucking retard, you don’t have to pay for shit as long as you make sure whatever you steal under any given identity at whatever given big box store does not amount to grand theft. Otherwise the company policy doesn’t waste time on the clock doing silly things like having their already overworked employees play NCIS on the security cameras in vane attempts to track down that missing pack of bubblegum Nancy Drew warned us about.
This is why yall are cucks and collaborators. You’re too pathetic to do the scary thing for the right reasons. You’d rather sit on your computer, safely masturbating to 2D girls as you fantasize about one day winning the lottery and having prepubescent sex slaves of your own.
Cops have speeding tickets to write and crackheads to molest. Doing this for a purpose puts you above the rest. It gives you will and when your will is good you will carefully and deliberately not allow yourself to crack.

You are making out as if people who work in supermarkets give a fuck. Everyone who works there just wants to get on with their shift and leave on time. It's all I need. I worked with LPS when I did a stint in retail as a kid. They could barely nail people for walking out of the store with 100-300 dollars worth of shit and were lucky to get 2 people for every hundred that were hitting us multiple times a week. Even when we got them the cops would literally drive them a mile away and drop them off because it was too much of a hassle for something that would never stick and they would be back the next day. This ain't cops and robbers crime drama. It's not worth it to them.

Kidfucking is like a fungal growth, there is this mycelium of abusive ideology that is tapping into the neurology of your fellow man to make them incapable of love. To break their brain to one like insects. These followers of the abusive and abrahamic evils are not people. They are not alive. They are like weeds, growing and growing as the external stimuli pressures them to grow, but without thought, they are just a chemical process set in motion that does not think or feel, just grow until it can reproduce and do just as its DNA instructs until death and the reproduction its spawn do, and so forth.

Because that's not true. Stores have massive overhead expenses to deal with, so it's not like as they get bigger they start to care less and less about losing money to shoplifting. Profit margins are as narrow as can be with grocery stores, like 1%. Store managers most definitely care about shoplifting. It's not all that unlikely any given store will be missing their operations goals any given month you're there. I've done a couple little things here and there, sometimes ring up produce as less expensive codes, sometimes even unintentionally, never made a habit out of it or done what I think would be above average stealing. The only time I have ever had a problem with store security aka Mr. Walmart Greeter was when I literally dindu nuffin and wasn't actually stealing.

>needed to buy some tires
>auto worker has to go into backroom to get them for me
>he refuses to let me leave the area until I paid for them at his cashier in the far corner of the store
>pay, pocket the receipt, know what's likely to happen later
>finish shopping, go through self checkout with tires still in my cart, pay for all new items
>bitter old boomer who wishes she could retire at 75 tells me I have to pay for my tires
>just keep listening to my music, don't even acknowledge her existence
>black guy greeter tries to stop me as I walk past, ignore him too
>receipts were in my pocket the whole time

I don't play that stupid game. If I had lost the receipt somewhere in the store, it would have been a fucking mess watching those unmotivated walmart employees try to confirm the purchase was legitimate. They can take their own time tracking down that auto worker who just clocked out or watching 30 minutes of security footage, I'm not sticking around. Nothing ever happened, I don't know if they even bothered checking, but I still go to the same store occasionally.

I worked in tesco and have seen them destroy perfectly edible and usable items. Joghurts, cream, boxes of eggs etc were thrown into a literal grinder-crusher container trashcan on wheels JUST because the container/tub was splashed or separated from 4 pack. When a multipack of joghurts was separated all of them would go into the grinder because no one bothers to print out a price tag for individual pieces, same with eggs if one or two got broken the rest was thrown into the grinder.

When the grinder is operated it is watched by a guard and camera just so the staff can't take anything. The guard also said that once entire shelves of liquor were crushed there, all of these expensive cognacs and rums and no one knew why. A relative received a box of premium Lindt chocolates from a guy that loads entire shipping containers with product intended for destruction. Some boxes may disappear when the lights go out for a few minutes. The reason for destruction is frequently not having been sold out at normal price, they will not make a discount but throw it into the grinder. It is not only food that is destroyed, good quality shoes, clothes etc are also frequently loaded.

This shit perfectly justifies thieves in my eyes even though I don't steal, fuck the supermarkets, the corporations that order destruction of good items and law that makes all of this possible

I thought this was stupid because if I wanted to steal I'd use a satchel or purse, not something sitting on my back that I can't quickly and slyly shove things inside. I work in a shop in a small town. The alarms go off regularly to tell us that someone has just taken something illegally which still has tags on it. When I was new I used to ask if we needed to go and check on whoever just walked out but the answer was no. No one gave a shit about theft even if it was a £50 bottle of whisky. The managers don't care. My supervisor doesn't care and I don't care anymore. The worst you'll get from me is a dirty look from me if you're not white and the alarm goes off because for white people in our store it's usually an unfortunate accident and they always come back, take out their receipt and insist that we check their items because no one wants to be a thief but anyone else just walks out because they know they've stolen so they won't stop or they just keep going because they just think of it as a free item since they forgot to get it scanned.

They just need to work out some sort of charity for tax breaks or a way to send another store that stuff at discount. But I understand not handing it out to employees since, unfortunately, it will lead to them trying to take everything possible. They will purposefully break the yoghurt pack or scuff a shoe and find any reason at all to get free stuff. And they'll still bitch and moan. When I worked in a dining hall at a university, we could literally eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snacks there in unlimited portion sizes and people still bitched that they couldn't take anything home with them. And you just know that if they allowed it that people would start finding any way and any reason to set things to the side to take home.

It also does help prevent theft, because many people feel remorse when confronted and don't like the thought of being caught. If no one were checking receipts in stores like Walmart with self checkouts then why wouldn't most people just leave the water and toilet paper on the bottom rack of the cart unscanned? It's one thing to ask for a receipt from the self check-out that's ten feet away (although I refuse that request too because fuck you), but it's another entirely to ask for a receipt from across the store that they had no vision of or contact with. They can go fuck themselves with such a lazy, retarded policy like that. I bet if you were to have lost it you would have sat there for 20 minutes like a good little cuck while they tried to make up for their own incompetence.

They always give you a receipt, and it would be highly unusual to lose it even in stores where they don't check the receipt. How would you return anything if you don't keep track of your receipts? Where and how would you lose it? You would put it in your wallet, pocket, or grocery bag not a black hole. And also, you've established that you can just walk out. So if you do lose it and don't want to sit around then keep walking that day.

In the US employees aren't supposed to fuck with them either. A lot of security companies guards aren't authorized to detain them either due to liability. The insurance they have to pay for their guards to handle shoplifting is astronomical.

Most of the time the receipt is printed directly into a garbage bin, nobody wants that BPA on their hands.

I have never experienced that anywhere that you would want to return something or for a large purchase, especially tires. Sometimes they'll toss it out for you in a small, non-corporate coffee shop where no one wants or needs a receipt for a coffee and breakfast sandwich.

Cashiers mutter an automatic "do you want the receipt?" in pretty much every store I visit.
The only time they force one on you is when there's some shitty survey going on and they want that 5 star performance review.

Where do you live? Is it a small town? I'm in Las Vegas, and every single (local) place hands you a receipt. I cannot see how a store that checks receipts wouldn't have an employee policy that requires them to hang you the receipt.

I am specifically addressing the point where you said "it would be highly unusual to lose it even in stores where they don't check the receipt."
My point is that in these stores they never bother handing you a receipt in the first place.

I'm saying that where I live and shop that they always do hand you one. If I were buying tires and they didn't hand me a receipt I would both be very worried and ask them for one. Who the fuck buys several hundred dollars worth of tires and doesn't make sure they get a receipt?

Lol I'm saying they do. Again, where do you live? I can see this in mom and pop shops where you're buying things that obviously don't get returned, because the are consumed on the spot.

I'm genuinely curious as I'm about to move to a really small town and wonder how things will be though I visited the area for a week and always got receipts including at the grocery store. It's a little odd to think of returning produce and other fresh things, but it's possible to find something wrong with it once you get home and go return it, which is also the case with packaged stuff.

Also they're a lot more wary of what they do because let's face it, if a guy shoves you and says fuck off, other than maybe reciprocating you won't do anything. On the other hand if a security guard does it, well maybe you think about suing the company he works for. All of a sudden his manager wants him home because he's the reason that his manager has a bullshit lawsuit on his hands.

In the shop I work in, if you come back later and show me a receipt and the item then yeah no problem, grab a new one that's not fucked up. Sometimes I won't even bother with the receipt if I can remember someone's face, if they come back a couple hours after I served them and show me the item I'll just grab a new one for them. Even if it's something that goes out of date very quickly, I don't mind if you return it as long as it's not your fault it's broken or whatever.

It happens to be a small town in an area near enough to other small towns and enough tourism where businesses have been able to flourish, so there are 2 grocery stores and a super walmart despite a population of about 1,500. If you live in any other town in the area then you'd have just a small farmer's market by the gas station.

life hack: if you just be friendly to the sco attendant and don't freak out about them having to come over, like 70% of the time we'll just let you take whatever isn't scanning because it's faster than running it through, and most of the time keeping the line running faster is more important than verifying every single item that didn't ring right
