I have £20 to feed me for two weeks and have literally no food in the house. What should I buy? I'd really like to eat meat once a day if possible, even if just cheap frozen sausages.

What country do you live in? This tells us nothing, cost of living is different everywhere. You could panhandle in the US and make a fortune being a Europoor, in some areas, and get arrested for doing it other places. The lockup is warmer than the streets.

Get 2 or 3 whole chickens. It's meat. Can easily be purchases for less than that much money. And should last you about a couple weeks depending on how much of a fat fuck you are, as long as you supplement it with potatoes, rice, and other cheap ingredients. Also look into stews.

Cook onion, add 1 tin of tomatoes, some sugar, oregano and garlic powder.

Mix with 500g pasta and top with grated cheddar.

I could only add a max of 12, but you can eat 250g for 4 days.

When using 500g of dried pasta though, must be like 2000-3000 calories a day easy.

Like I said, using it with recipes that incorporate a lot of cheap ingredients will help stretch them. Potatoes, rice, carrots, celery, beans for example. It doesn't necessarily have to be chicken, if you see a good price on pork or something that's fine too. Look at the price per pound and compare it to a whole chicken, which will usually be cheaper unless something is on sale. Jamie Oliver's food tube has a lot of noob friendly recipes. If you have an aldi or lidl near you, you're in luck. Kino poverty store.

If you really want meat then the best you can hope for is cheap value brand frozen sausages. You won't get enough calories otherwise, because you really need to eat carbs, since they're cheap and high calorie.

Here's a new list. Turns out it's cheaper to just buy pasta sauce already made.

So you've got sausages, bacon, eggs and even some ham, as well as bread and butter. You can easily make sandwiches out of this for lunch, as well as breakfast foods. You'll have to freeze on loaf though, since it won't last 2 weeks.

Then you've got pasta+sauce+cheese for dinner, again, 500g of pasta when cooked turns into like 1000g+. It's a lot of calories. You'd easily survive on this, you might even put on weight.

>An important factor in achieving great tomato flavor is balancing acidity and sweetness. Too much of either can leave you with a tomato sauce that tastes one-dimensional. Adding baking soda will change the pH of tomato sauce, making it less acidic. Generally, we balance tomato sauce acidity by adding a bit of sugar. While sugar can’t neutralize acidity in the same way that baking soda can, it does change our perception of other tastes.

To not waste you have to reserve your fat.
Eat sugar with fats to raise your blood sugar levels which makes it easier for your muscles to replenish their energy reserves and allow energy to be turned into fat cells in your body.

Do not exercise at all without having eaten first, it would drain your fat reserves. Eat breakfast before doing anything after waking up. Eating a sugar/fat heavy diet allows you to retain maximum amount of body fat.

A couple large meals per day (say 8am, 16pm) allows more time to digest each meal and lets the body rest. Anything irritating/laxative like milk or spicy food is bad.

OP here is sausage chilli and rice for £20 odd

works out to 1700kcal, 67g protein, 22g fibre a day (14 days). Honestly i'd do what you can do get a bit more money so you can get more carbs in.

Also bulk buying rice/dry beans from ethnic shops is often cheaper

Looks good but why basmati over plain long grain? I'm just asking. I have always gotten long grain rice and never branched out to stuff like basmati or jasmine. Currently I use Uncle Ben's converted rice both for nutrition, texture, and ease of cooking unless I'm going particularly for white rice.

Nice! I don't know if they have Uncle Ben's converted or any other converted rice over there, but it's really good for pilaf and having more nutritional rice than fully white rice (depending on price and budget). I think it's brown rice that has already been parboiled, so when you cook it the texture and taste are closer to white rice while retaining the nutrition of brown rice and being filling. It's not what I'd cook if I wanted white sticky rice or coconut rice, but it's a great option day to day.

If you have that option then it's a great deal. I will try that next time I buy more converted rice instead of paying for name brand markup.

Go Lidl's. Buy pasta, beef mince, eggs, oil (if you seriously don't have any), rice, bacon, and frozen mixed veg. Will cost you around £12, have a look for reduced stock too (reduced by 30% if it is on or the day before the expiry date but it's still perfectly safe to eat), also bread is reduced to 20 pence for the same reasons. Wonky veg boxes are £1.50 for a 5ish kilo box of assorted veg. Don't buy frozen chicken or fish because it's bulked up with water "for succulence" but really it is a 50:50 ratio of meat to water by weight--2 kg bag of chicken is really only 1kg and that applies for almost all frozen chicken and fish products.
Egg fried rice with peas and bacon is very nutritious, high in calories, and very cheap.
