does anyone even like ham?
i mean i'll eat it but literally any other meat would be better

the best part of a ham dinner has always been the sides and even then the ham detracts so much from it you wish you were just having the sides

>> No.13093185

Even when people say it's moist it seems dry. The flavor seems off regardless of type. It's best used when thinly sliced in a sandwich to compliment other ingredients. Ham slices as part of a dinner are terrible.

Eating meat is the opposite of being religious.
When you are religious you believe in higher values and a god or philosophy that you have to submit to.

Are you sure you are not the one on the feel-good, arrogance diet? It certainly is one of ignorance of multiple religions.

Then again vegetarians/vegans that do it because they think they're better than others always are pieces of shit.

>> No.13098892

I am not a vegan. I aöso think an omnivorous diet is the most heatlhy and natural for humans. I probably eat more meat than most people here, trying to lift as much as I can and that chicken breast gives me almost pure protein in a delicious form.

I still can not justify it morally. I could be a vegan false flagging, but I am not, you don't have a real reason to believe me either.
I thought a lot about eating meat:
I gew up as a catholic and I thought it was just the god give order
I became an atheist and thought about it in different ways, I thought that animals are probably just automatons
Now I think that while animals don't feel the same kind of pain we do, and while they don't have plans for the future or maybe even self awareness they feel something
even when I hunt, yes that animal had a good life, but I have killed it

I can not really justify that. All I can say is that I was stronger, or just lucky to be born a human in the 20th century.

The difference to religion is that I don't expect to get any kinf of reward for eating meat, I don't think it server any greater purpose and I don't thinmk anyone will praise me for it. It's pure hedonism and I have decided to do it anyway.

So you abandoned God and put yourself on the same level as animals? If humans are not above other organisms than what stops you at just meat and fish? Why are you above bugs, plants, and microorganisms? How do you justify cutting the lawn?

If God did not want us to eat meat, he would not have created omnivores.

>what stops you at just meat and fish?
Nothing really. I eat animals and I alsoeat plants. I think your argument is that my philosophy is self contradictory, buw why? I think it's immoral to hurt any being, but I still do it. Although I think plants don't have consciousness.

I don't have a religious conviction. I have a utilitarian conviction. It hurts the animal, it ends the animal's life. I don't get it, a being just suffered and died and you think that's moral. We are talking about anything even resembling objective morality.

That picture looks like an uncooked ham, and I think that is the problem. Cured dry and fresh hams, including honeybaked spiral sliced, state they only need a gentle re-warming to a safe temp, but it should be cooked til that meat nearly falls off the bone, and there is a luscious gravy that includes the spiced drippings and some coffee. Spiral sliced is too thin. Ehh, it's too much like luncheon meat, that composed ham with juices all congealed. This is how your family and friends are lazing out. They're not roasting but picking it up in cheatmode. It needs to be treated like a real roast! Bone-in, scored fat to let the rubbed on spices and mustard, whatever glaze you want at the end, and oh that gravy when you deglaze the pan.

I agree the sides for ham are top tier, but it's still the ham that is the star, if cooked well. The leftovers are as important as leftover corned beef.
